FCA, being more of an "American" car company, will probably just get a slap on the wrist. Harley Davidson had nearly as many emission cheating bikes on the road, and they were fined all of $12 million.

I do agree its sad, I was kind of eyeing up an EcoDiesel Ram as a potential TDI replacement if I went that way. I have 2 brothers, one owns a Jetta TDI, and the other has a Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel. Apparently my family is single handedly responsible for global climate change.

My Jetta brother is pretty upset, because he loves his car, and regularly tows a small travel trailer with his. If it isn't fixable, he'll have to move to a truck/SUV, because no car on the market can town. My Grand Cherokee brother hopes FCA has to buy the vehicles back because they've had all kinds of problems with it. (oil leaks and radar cruise failures primarily)

Dropped off my wagon this morning. The process went smoothly, the guy even got us in about 30 minutes early. Showed our driver's licenses, proof of ownership, signed a couple docs and we were done in about 20 minutes. Likely will have the funds in my account by Wednesday next week.

Driving a Mk5 Jetta TDI as its replacement until I find something else that interests me.

Glad that process went smoothly! Hoping they approve the fix so we can get our money for keeping the car / "fixing" it.

Have you gotten the money for the Jetta?

No, which reminds me I still haven't submitted the "proof of sale" documentation (or the registration for the Passat). Ball is in my court for sure.

Got an email from VW stating that loan payoff information can now be faxed directly to VW, had my lender follow through with it. I'm hoping that speeds this process up a bit.. I've been waiting over two months for them to send me my offer now.

I'm jumping on this bandwagon too with my 2010 sportwagen. I just moved a few months ago so finding the required docs is going to be... fun.

I should have bought a tdi sportwagen when I had the chance.

on a plus side, I averaged 42mpg on my work commute home (49 miles, mostly i35) yesterday and 53mpg on my 7 mile drive home from bowling last night.

Anyone get another letter on the fiasco about Bosch adding $350 to the payout?

Yea, I got a postcard as well. I read it, and put it in the pile of dieselgate paperwork I've got.

Well, look at it this way, I normally get about 42mpg on the highway, and 36mpg around town, so your car is more efficient, just less practical.
