    Default 1970 MG Midget w/1.8 16V Mazda Miata engine/transmission

    http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ra...532735034.html

1970 MG Midget that has been upgraded with: 1.8L 16 valve engine, 5 speed transmission, electronics, gauge cluster, and seats from a Mazda Miata.
Runs beautifully!! Overall it's in great shape. You don't find hardly any like these, especially in MN. Starts right up every time with NO issues (AKA modern Japanese reliability). Has been very, very trustworthy.

The car is from the south and is basically rust-free.
The paint is in very good shape, as well as the body- it isn't perfect, there are a few cracks around the hood bulge (see photo), a few hood scratches on the hood, a slight dent in the drivers front quarter panel that you can only see from the right angle (again, see photo) along with a small imperfection on top of the passenger fender. There are a few small rough spots in the paint finish near the bottom of the windshield.
The leather seats are in good shape from the donor Miata- they have speakers in the headrests so that you can hear music without having to blare the radio.

    Details:
-The engine/transmission has about 95,000 miles on it
-Numerous receipts, serviced at Quality Coaches in Minneapolis
    -Everything works- no weird issues
-Semi elliptical rear trailing arms to positively locate the rear end, purchased from Winners Circle
-Wire wheels with knock offs, splines in good condition and good tread on the tires
    -Wood steering wheel
-Recent fluid changes to Transmission oil, brakes
    -New Polyurethane control arm bushings
-Head gasket replaced 10k miles ago
-Rear lowering blocks for improved handling
-No running issues! the engine starts and runs BEAUTIFULLY and is stock save for a cone air filter and performance exhaust system that sounds great under full throttle but isn't loud when driving around at a normal pace. This is a ~1,500 lb car with roughly 140 HP- a great power to weight ratio, without overpowering the chassis. Strong clutch too!
-The top is in good shape (not that I used it much!)
    -New battery
    -Aftermarket CD player
    -New shift boot
    -New drivers wheel-bearing
    -New fuel pump
    -Clean title in hand

MOST older MG's have very common rust issues. Not this car- you won't find hardly any rust at all- bring a magnet and you'll see it's solid, no body fill.

    Only Issues:
-The only driving issue is that if you shift really quickly into 2nd gear, there's a slight grind for a split second. I hardly ever experience this as I'm used to driving the car and double-clutch into 2nd with no grind, but others who aren't used to driving it will sometimes do it. Once you get accustomed to driving it, you just learn to accommodate that and it's not an issue.
-Slight surface rust on two of the wheel hubs- the drivers rear wheel, and a tiny bit on the drivers front wheel.
-Cracked windshield that happened last fall- I have a replacement windshield/frame, but haven't had the time this spring to replace it yet. I hope to get to it soon, but would go down in price a bit if I don't
-Fender rearview mirror glass is also has a small crack

I adore driving and owning this car, but I'm so busy that I have hardly driven it. It's such a great car- nothing modern comes close to it's beauty, yet the trouble-free fuel injection and electronic ignition of the Miata engine (not to mention the larger displacement) is lightyears ahead of the old points-type ignitions and smelly, problematic carberators that these cars came with, NOT TO MENTION NO LUCAS ELECTRICS! Get's great MPG too.

    Thanks for looking
