    Aren't small Diesel engines (generators, small tractors, etc) incredibly hard to start in the cold?

    The small diesels have a compression release button. You pull it tight, hit the compression release to relieve the pressure in the cylinder, then pull to start. Actually isn't too bad... Of course I've never tried in the middle of winter either...

    I think the intercooler is redundant considering the temp range of the incoming air.
