Ooops, still no pics but will do so after I give it a wash and rinse. Also, Diesel Kleen is $4 cheaper at Fleet Farm for the 250gal treatment jug vs Walmart in Saint Cloud.

Car is running great and I have no complaints so far.
Well, other than the slight rattle in the dash at cruising speed, and the hate it seems to generate around these parts, and the scrape my lovely wife put on it with her bike, and the amber front corners on a red car, and the lumpy way the DSG fumbles with 1st gear.

Put a hitch on for our bike rack. Hitch was not aligned very well with the required holes on car to install so it took a bit longer than anticipated (2hrs). Now probably could do it in under an hour from start to finish.

Only things for the car we would like to do are:
    - Smoke front corners instead of the ambers. Orange and red to not go well together.
    - Engine and DSG tune in the spring.
    - Maybe a different emblem for the rear? I have a problem with the fact this car is called a Jetta when everywhere else in the world we would be driving a Golf. What a spaznerd I am...
    - Maybe a bigger cargo box for our adventures.

Promise to take pics later Worst tank so far has been a 42mpg tank... Not too bad!

I deleted the "Jetta" badge on mine and left the "TDI" badge intact. I've seen a Canadian one that had a "Golf" badge.

Does it have a diffuser at the top of the console like the mkv's? That was the source of my dash rattles.

If you are going to DIY at all I suggest buying the Vag-Com cable deal before you actually need it.

I think he was using the word deal as a synonym for thing, not as sale.

Thread now has pics. As can be seen, the amber corners do not fit with the red of the car. Tails have a smoke on the sides and clear on the back. Leaning towards smoke for the front corners as orange and red do not mix very well.

Car is running great, took it too and from the new Mission Creek trails on the SW side of Duluth for an offroad bike race on Sunday. Drove great in the rain, heat heated up really quickly when we left, and we got an indicated 48mpg for the trip. This car is perfect for the type of driving I do with the family in the car; slow and easy.

Lastly, I had to take the JETTA emblem off. Couldn't take it anymore because I am a weirdo. Also installed a dry AFE washable filter for at least 999whp. Really I did it for the washable factor. Service calls for new air filter every 20k miles...

Huh? Change interval for the engine air filter should be 60k miles.

Yup, I've been doing ours every 60k. Doesn't even look that bad when I change it either.

Maybe you are thinking of the Diesel Fuel filter? That is a 20k item for sure and worth doing at that interval.

To add to that, I do a bit shorter intervals on the fuel filter during the winter as to prevent any icing that couple happen because of an 'almost clogged' filter.

Hmmm, I am probably wrong, it has happened before and will happen again

In other news, I just got done driving a 1967 911. What a treat that drive was...

So after driving the 67 911 and telling my beaut of a wife about the virtues of a boxer engine arrangement, she decided she wanted to get a boxer herself again.

So now we have a 2004 WRB WRX, again, with copious miles and a buttload of mods. The WRX will replace the SVT and not the Sportwagen.

I love the wagon; took it out to SD over this past weekend with my girls, rocketbox, bikes, camping for 3 days, and the car has given us over 40mpg.

The only way to love it more would be more power and efficiency, so methinks an engine and DSG tune are in order for the spring. Searching says Malone is the bees knees, but the locator on Malone site only lists someone in WI as a tuner...
