View Full Version : Any interest in Saab parts? 94 900 SE?

Talking to a guy who has a Saab he wants gone. It is a 94 900 SE dark green exterior and tan leather interior. He thinks 160 on the ODO, but wasn't 100% positive. V6 and been sitting for a while.

I don't know crap about saab's other then my dad owned one when I was young. I'll pick it up and part it out if the Saab guy's want stuff off of it. But since I have never parted out a Saab, I don't know what parts are in demand and what they are worth. So I guess it comes down to do any of you local Saab folks need anything off a 94 900?

He thinks it is worth 500, so is there 800 in parts on a 500 dollar saab? I don't need to make much money, but I need to make something to cover my time and having to store the thing while it comes apart.

I really don't think there is 800 bucks in parts, but I could be wrong.

The V6 may hurt the value.

My bet is the timing belt went, and bent up the valves.

Good luck!

Oh, and I don't need anything (well, a head gasket, but that's another story) but I cannot speak for anyone else on here.

If it's not timing belt, I bet it's something with the trans.

I was really hoping for 2.3 na or 2.0t.

It's neither the trans nor the timing belt. The AC compressor lunched itself, basically locked up the belt, and resulted in the alternator not charging the battery. PO is something of a boner and didn't want to fix it, so it's been sitting for a year.

Long story short, bypass the AC or throw in a compressor that spins, and the car would be a sick DD or beater.

Sounds like a easy fix to give you a nice $500 car.

Not sure but I'm probably thinking something similar as well.

Lame it's a 6cyl..

no freaking way.

pics, now.

5sp v6's are quite rare, and apparently fun. I could buy this beater for 1/5 of what it'll cost me to fix my car.

Imagine a green Saab 900 that nobody's cared much about in a couple years, and there you have it. Minor rust around wheel wells and door bottoms, but it's not falling apart or anything. Tan leather with the usual cracking. Nothing spectacularly good, nothing spectacularly bad.

Yes, yes, I am.

The V6 would work fine, in fact might be "perfect"

Manual.

Oh awesome :happydance:

No all that rare for 1994, not super fun either, better than with an auto though. And yeah, as far as pics, I bet it looks pretty much like your car ;)

Would certainly save lots of work. Or maybe it wouldn't.

Champ have you noticed we have a thing for buying green saab hatchbacks that are covered in snow and not movable?

It was a year ago this week that we picked up that other 900.

Finally went and looked at the Saab. It was sitting in a puddle and raining so the pictures sort of suck.

$500 bucks and the sooner it leaves the better.

I drove past during lunch today...looks like a rusty snow covered Saab. Not terrible from what I could tell. I would be all for us buying this as long as we can be sure it runs (obviously just start it without the serp belt just to be sure).

I am free Thursday night.

It runs. It drove to where it sits, albeit with issues caused by the extra drag on the belt (still spun, but it wasn't easy). I had to follow it home. I guarantee it'll fire off with a new battery (existing one is dead and has been sitting for over a year now.)

Sweet! Glad to see it went to someone that is going to beat the piss out of it vs. being beat to pieces at Upull.

If its anything like the last one we'll spend a ton of time and topher will put it into the wall within the 2 hours of the race starting!

Then we'll spend 4 hours fixing it and finish pretty "decent" in the final standings.
