BBS alloys were far far away on an Audi 5000. Like the other end of the lot, still in the foreign section.

South UPull

Red Mk2 Golf 4dr

Body is far from perfect but some salvageable parts. Good looking bumpers and paint was okay. Must have been sitting for a while: there's moss growing on the passenger side.

Interior is very complete. Seats are fine. Black/Silver stripe dash is very good. Has cruise control!! B-Pillar seatbelts (one other mk2 there with b-pillar seatbalts too). Unbroken headliner (no upholstery).

The GTI up north was power, the Golf down in Rosemount I think was manual steering.

Long way to drive but across the border in Iowa, near Clear Lake we have a u-pull yard called B20 with:
several air-cooled bugs and vans
an '87 Jetta GLI
'91 2 door golf (doors gone)
Several other A2 jettas big and small bumpers
Remains of a '90? passat
an old quatro
new to the yard last time was a red, '98 Audi Quatro 2.8, front end damage (wheels gone).
'98 Jetta, black, 2.0, "different" rims,.. a rear wing from some other car,.. light front end damage but still runs.
Good thing scrap prices are low for awhile.

Oh, and a tan, '83 Rabbit diesel, 4 door (actually a 3 door, the hard way:e-rage:).
... and '81 cabby
I'll take a look at the Audi seats if I get over that way.

I was at Rosemount U-pull on Saturday. Here is what I found.

*Passat VR6 12V OBD2 motor somewhat complete topend and bottom end w/ AC compressor, no tranny, intake, or valve cover.

*Brown MK2 Dash Very Nice condition and some rear panels brown/tan, tan front and rear seats. Car was a nice dark red. Seems Rare.

*MK2 8V Flares good didn't see any cracks.

Check this out. maybe I am just dumb, but doesn't this look like a front mount on the ground? I found it at Jellisons auto on their website, I am about to go up there and get some parts, but looking at the rest of the car it was owned by a kid with pep boys parts all over R racing floor mats and pedal pads haha

at first I thought it was the radiator, but after looking more I didn't see any part of the cooling fan, it doesn't look tall enough, it is too thick (I think) and judjing by the smashed up front, it would be a lot more mangled than that, so does this mean that car was a vrt or vrs? hmmm guess I will have to find out

Call them and ask them what color it is. There is a guy on MNBMW that is looking to rebuild or part out his E36 after he rolled it. You could maybe get interior parts from him or buy the one you posted and sell him some body panels and such.

Took a cold quick walk though Upull south this morning.

What I remember as I didn't have my camera with me.

Black spray bombed mk2 Jetta, stripped
Red mk2 4 door golf, still had tranny, 8V, b pillar belts
Silver mk2 2 door golf, One of the hardest hit mk2's I have seen. Firewall forward takes up maybe a foot. (non AC, but guessing air box is wrecked)

Black mk3 Jetta, fairly stripped, ABA is open and I could see snow in it.
White mk3 Jetta, fairly stripped but ABA was still there
White mk3 Jetta, front end damage, tranny, ABA still in, but some seperated intake manifold and cut injector harness, black GL interior with popped bags

Silver B3 Passat 16V with 5 speed (rear disks)
Silver Bs Passat Wagon 16V with 5 speed (rear disks)

White rusty Eurovan with dirty tan interior. 2.5L looked untouched

A black Fox

Couple big body Audi's (10V's) and a just placed V8 that I could not get the hood open on, but could see the V8 still in it and untouched.

Couple Volvo's with misc turbo parts, one still had turbo

I agree but u-pulls online inventory often misses cars. And I tend to find stuff there that isn't listed online. Keep that in mind if you need something and don't see it on there site:thumbup:

a few of us went to Chesney's JY north of Duluth today. this is what we remember.

a tan interior'd mk3 jetta glx with what looked like useable tan leather seats and puffy cards.

mk4 jetta with 3-spoke steering wheel, bad body, forgot the interior info.

2 white mk3 golfs, one hatch was good and i'm telling jeremy about it.

plenty of ABAs to take whatever from meaning 22mm brake master cylinders, full motor swaps with ecus, etc.

plenty of mk3 jetta hoods in good shape and trunks.

2 new beetles details not checked but i could go back.

a couple VRs, at least one manual and one auto. (jetta and a passat)

black mk3 gti vr (missing motor) okay leather seats, frame bent (pass door no close), hatch is shit, had spindles, etc.

plenty of audi handles for those that would ever imagine actually doing that.

audi '98 30v A4 with heated grey leather, back seats had a subframe sitting on it though.

b5 passat wagon forgot to check any specifics.

a few b5s iirc.

i'd be willing to go back sometime soon to check on specifics. we arrived at 4:30 and they closed at 5 so we didn't have much time.

no pics and i am sorry for that fact.

There is a little yard next door to Rogers on Ideal Ave in Cottage Grove that has at least 6 Mk2's and a couple Mk1's.

They are tucked in the very back corner of the yard with some air-cooled stuff, so I didn't get a real good look at condition or what was available.

Wow.... I don't even want to ask details. That never happens. Sounds like a bad dream I had once.

That was mine (assuming the unlikely scenario that two ended up there). But it must have been more like 5 years ago.

The back story is that I was sitting at a light and got hit by a guy running the light. He blew a .07 just beating a DWI. His underage passenger blew a .21.

The State Patrol figured he was going about 70 when he hit me. Luckily I was talking to my son in the back seat and didn't see the light change. Had I not been distracted he'd have probably T boned me and killed both of us.

I had the car in my garage for about 9 months and was stripping parts off of it, but winter was setting in and my wife was screaming to get it out of the garage, so 101 was the simple solution.

How was the rack? It took a pretty hard hit in the accident so i didn't bother taking it. I didn't want to do the swap only to learn it was bad. In hind sight a bad choice, but the one I am still kicking myself for is not taking the 4.10 LSD. I totally forgot to pull it until about a year later when I was digging around the garage looking for it.

The suspension, brakes, seats and a bunch of misc stuff ended up in my 318is Convertible. I decided not to do the driveline swap and the engine now rests in Steve's beautiful orange 2002.

I still have a bunch of miscellaneous parts laying around the garage. Rear decklid, rear bumper cover, a box full of small parts. Wish i had cut the rear clip off. Its more complicated than it looks. At least to a non body guy.

Still wish I had the car though. I bought it in 1989 when it was a year old. Had it 14 years. The cabby is fun but no M3.

Tonys
05-12-2009, 01:52 PM
No the entire suspension/brake system went on my e30 convertible.

My box is mostly small trim parts, electrical crap etc. most of it isn't even specific to the M3. Stuff you have to go junk yard diving to find. So I made a box of small crap to keep for future projects.

That and the abs pump. I don't know why. I must have had to take it off to get the engine out. Its M3 specific so it won't work on other E30s. I should throw it up on ebay.

Just got back from U-PULL IN ROSEMOUNT

there were a few cars worthy of remark:

a 4dr VW Fox. Red, rust free, and lots of usable body parts. didn't look @ interior.
an Audi 5000CS wagon/touring. Green and pretty rust free. There was, however, a 4000S in the parking lot... I can only suspect that's one of the cars he was looking over.
the '84 BMW 733i is in fantastic shape! pale, metallic blue/green, and no rust. Great interior but only the driver's door comes open. only the radio gone, and the m30b33 is ready to rip!
I went for the '87 325e, which is bronzitbeige-metallic. great rust free hood (with decent respray) and doors. dash is cracked. the seats are tan vinyl comfort and in fantastic shape. I took headlight buckets, tail lights and window switches. Looks like the subframe failed, so the motor should be good. Automatic trans, 240k, radio gone. all 4 bottlecaps still there, i stacked them.

There is a black Saab 900 that looks really good, body-wise. No damage that I saw and rust free.

i would love to hear this story as-well...

illnever go back there.

bout 7 yrs ago.

cops were called on us as we were in the yard???? we dipped, cops gave chase to "two black mk3 jettas" one got caught in hudson my pal and i got away back to mn. but sherriffs still came to the house next day. gave stuff back and dealt with it in court. they tried saying we took 25,000$ worth of parts when all we had was a set of audi monoblocks, and a vr intake manifold and random interior parts.....

There was one there 5 weeks ago. It's exterior had minimal rust and was in decent shape. Interior was stripped, engine and most parts where there. Coils were gone.

Upull North (09/09):
Red VR6 (non coil pack), Auto, Rear brakes MIA already
Red mk3, picked over
Black 8V Mk2, GL Fairly complete
Gold 8V Mk2, GL 020 still in it
Black ? Mk2 GLI, Picked over and a bit beat

Other then that I remember a couple Saabs, a gold Volvo wagon, a red 318ti beamer, a big 5 series beamer, another black 3 series with serious front end damage.

If anyone is at u-pull south in the near future can you check out the audi's and see if any of them are turbo. I need one small sensor and would hate to drive and hour down there if none of the cars will even have it.

Went down to u pull this morning hoping the car was non AC. Tim, you shouldn't have ripped the u joint boot those are unique to manual racks and NLA at the dealer.

Anyway, rear glass has a brake light. Rear seat belts are not 3 point, but the speaker studs were broken off parcel tray things. Car has a bit of a weird dash, still looks like a mk2 dash, but just slight differences. Rain gutter rubber pieces looked pretty clean. Some asian dude was busy beating the front brakes off the car when I was there. 020 was still in it.

Couple mk3's as well, but most are torn down pretty far. No mk1's and only the one mk2. A few bigger 10V Audi's.

Was there this morning. And the diff is still there. There was basically a lake under the car and very muddy since it has been wet but I did my best to try and find the famoius "s". I was unsuccessful. That doesn't mean that it still might not be a LSD. I wrote down the VIN for you to check if you would like, using a site such as realoem.com etc. WBADC8402H1722946. I can't since this is on my phone. But being a 535is, i would bet top dollar it has the LSD, but it also had the hydro electronic auto transmission.

I went for the new 89 325i, which was pretty basic and had cloth interior. Not much for the car. Next to it was a MK3 golf with a near perfect rad red/green/blue checkered interior. Looked sweet.

It had plastics on it. They're gone. Someone swiped everything between Monday afternoon and today. Bumpers and metal, trim, switches, the fucking ellipsoids I went there for, everything. The motor is whole, but covered in oil. I took all that remained, the glovebox and the automatic shift knob (it's leather, mine isn't).

The sunroof and trunk lid are left and are decent. No rust on the sunroof, a little surface on the edge of the black trunk lid. someone also bent the hood to hell for no reason (not that is was perfect, but comon!)

They have a pull it yourself section as well as an inventoried section they pull from. Specifically in the u-pull section they currently have:

1990 320i
1984 318i

Yes, I asked about the 320i, since that would be grey market, no? Either way she checked with someone else and it IS a 1990 320i.

You haz me excited. How are their prices?

I really really really hope there is a 320 somewhere in the snow.

All this E30 talk made me spend the last hour on the R3V. I need to get back into a 87 325is bronzit. Yes specifically that model. Or else a Alpine late model M-Tech II Cabrio.

Come with if we go?

IIRC, grey market import laws were pretty much a stranglehold by 1987/1988, which is why you don't see Skylines from the late 80's / early 90's anywhere. Plus, this is right around the time companies like Lamborghini and Maserati started setting up shop over here and making US versions of their cars.
I'd be astounded if it were an imported 320i, but I hope you strike gold fellas!

First, use the right "there".

Second, that sounds good...make it 10:00. I am supposed to text Tim in the morning, so I want to make sure he's up by then. You remember how to get here?

can someone give an approximate address or link to google maps? This sounds a lot like the ideal ave. yard in cottage grove.

Good times fellas! We had fun. I was the only one who picked anything up, but it was a worthwhile trip. There was a 5-series E34 there, as well as the 318 E30 that was mentioned. I managed to pull the upper door trim and the pedal set from the 318. the rest of it wasn't worth it. There was no 320i....

TTaM did however enjoy the company of a Toyota Previa van adjacent to the 318 while I was pulling parts.

We also stopped at the "all foreign" place off 212 but they were closed.

There was a 5-series E36
those are SUPER rare. I'll even call it "UBER" rare, and that means "awesome" in German.
