1.8T oil leak.....

2003 Jetta 1.8T keeps leaking oil!

Noticed oil on the garage floor starting a few months ago.

Checked everything out and the front camshaft seal was leaking a bit. Replaced valve cover gaskets, both camshaft seals, and the cam tensioner seal.

Oil leak went away for a few weeks. Noticed oil on the garage floor again. Checked everything out and the front camshaft seal was leaking. Replaced it again.

Seemed find for a couple weeks and yesterday I noticed more oil on the garage floor. WTF

Just checked and there is oil again behind the cam position sensor. WTF!!!!

Is there a trick to installing that cam seal or what??? Once I removed the cam cap when I installed the seal, the other time I pressed it in. Both times they leaked so obviously I'm missing something. Am I supposed to use sealant on there or what?

VWs don't leak, they mark their territory.

A little sealant wouldn't hurt. I always throw some on when installing a gasket or seal, as long as it is between non moving parts.

My 1.8t leaks like it has a medical condition.

Are your air dams in place? At least those would keep the oil off the floor...LOL

What type of seal are you using?

Just the dealer seals. Last time I was there I asked them if there were 2 variations (seen mention of them in Bentley) and they said no.

Is there a "good" one to use?

And whats up with PCV blockage on the 1.8Ts? How do you check that and what can you do about it?

Try some thread sealer on 6mm bolts that hold the CPS in place.
