    First off why does et stand for offset? Also what is high and what is low? I bought some RS6 wheels that are 18x8.5 for a possible mk5 and I would lower the car so that may cause rubbing...Im rubbing on my current car. Also what is with spacers and all this? Wouldnt spacers push the wheels out further which would cause more rubbing? I dont know what the offset is for these wheels they havent emailed me back yet.

    For the MkV you need an offset (et) of 45 or greater. Spacers will not work as they decrease offset. That\'s why i had to find a special place that made replica A8 wheels with an offset of 45 or greater. So I\'m hoping your RS6\'s aren\'t et35 or youll be scraping if you lower the car. if you keep it stock ride height or just do springs you may get lucky.

    the offset is the distance the wheel mounting face is away from the centerline of the wheel. Every time you add a spacer you subtract that from the final offset.

    It seems offest is all of a sudden a big deal now. Iused to just buy wheels I liked bolt them on no problems ever. Now its like you have to create atomic energy to do any mods.

    So if those wheels are 35 or 30 then Im screwed? Where did you find yours at? Also is the offset on the back of the rim? Will they rub going in a straight line or just on turns,cuz my car is rubbing on turns now.:laugh:

    35 or 30 offset isn\'t a death sentance, but chances are good you\'ll scrape the actual fender on turns, not just some inner well screw... I spent HOURS reading about this crap and found no certain answer; all you can do is try. I found the wheels I was looking for at tmtuning.com.

    Just remember: 5x112 bolt pattern and try for an offset of 45 or more. Also i think people were having trouble with wheels 9 inches wide or more. 8.5\" is the max i\'d push it. Plus without 500 hp no one needs wheels wider than that anyway

    35mm is MK1-MK4 offset, or at least thats what you wanted in aftermarket wheels, plus 20mm spacers in back usually (this goes for MK1\'s all the way through MK4\'s). A wheel with 35mm offset will stick out 10mm more than an identical wheel with 45mm offset.

    10mm isn\'t a ton, the severity of rubbing can be adjusted with tire sizing.
