    Default Timing Belt Kit

I was just starting to consider replacing my timing belt and water pump on my 1.8t. It has about 65k miles but i just wanted to be safe. I have been looking at the ECS Ultimate Timing belt Kit with the under drive pulley:

This kit put together by ECS Tuning was assembled to include everything required to perform a proper timing belt job on your 1.8T. This complete kit includes all the parts which have been known to frequently fail. Failure of any ONE of these parts will most likely damage the timing belt and result in catastrophic engine damage. Kit includes the following parts:
OEM timing belt made by Continental
OE tensioner Roller made by NTN-Japan
OEM tensioner assembly made by NTN-Japan
OE Idler roller (comes on the tensioner assembly)
Hepu water pump with metal impeller
    Accessory drive belt
Thermostat (Wahler)Kit does NOT contain anti-freeze.
ECS/OEM motor mount bolt kit (4)
Cam seal (new updated PTFE seal lip design)
    Crank seal

Seams like a pretty good deal for 400 Bucks. Anybody have any input? I wanted to get this done the same time i get the new turbo put in because Im already going to be diggin around in there so why not.

    Any Info would be usefull

I have this kit installed in my car, did this about a year and a half ago.... works great! Glen just put the same in his Audi TT as well.

Would you say it was an easy install? Just kind of wondering how long this would take?

I'm wondering the same thing, as I've gotta do mine soon, too.

the timing belt/water pump in a 225 TT is not an easy install, but it's not hard. More so just frustrating in a few key spots. I didn't do the under drive/lightweight pulleys. Set aside 8-10 hrs or so if you've never done one but are fairly mechanically inclined.
Nobody sits like this rock sits. You rock, rock. The rock just sits and is. You show us how to just sit here and that's what we need.

I wouldn't say its easy, but it's not hard if you have someone that's done it before there to throw advice your way

Yeah, I did mine in an afternoon with a few friends. It is about on par with pulling your tranny and doing a clutch... not hard or impossible a 6 or 7 out of 10.

even after doing it once and watching Glen do it... I would expect it to still take me about 6-8 hours.

I guess it would take 8 hours if you take a couple breaks maybe one for lunch or something
