Nope, not the same. Rabbit gti's use CIS lambda, and 16v's use either CIS-e or CIS-motronic.

Usually it's not the fuel distributer that's bad. The plunger inside can be gummed up, pressure regulator, warm-up regulator, and fuel injectors are all commonly less reliable.

I have a few CIS lambda fuel distributors laying around that are (were) good, but had bad injectors, etc. Yours for the taking if you really want them, however I live in Madison.

If it's a red '83 (500 on craigslist) someone went and looked at it, here's the thread:

Looks like a decent car if you're gonna swap in an aba or something. I wouldn't bother trying to piece together a CIS Lambda system, but that's just me.

Remember, wiring is cut out, too. I have a lot of the wiring, but it'd still be a pain. (can you tell I don't like CIS?)

I say, get the car. Come summer, I'll have some engine up for sale. Either an aba or a 16v. I'm looking for an auto mk3 jetta or b3 passat with blown auto trans for a project of mine, come summer.

    At what? Me?

I'd buy a car with some serious engine issues if I had the knowledge that there were a shitload of engines for cheap at the junkyard, and for sure some around here.

Or, hmm, maybe I should get a mk3 jetta, keep the rocco, and make an aba 16v.
