    Final Price - $10,000.00!!!

Just got the car back from Good Carma. They did the timing belt, tensioner, water pump, thermo, coolant, etc. A complete timing belt kit I purchased from mjmautohaus. General check up was rock solid!

I purchased the GTI from Westside VW in April of this year as a 1 owner/clean carfax trade in on a new Golf R. Previous owner cared for the car very well as have I. The 20th is completely FACTORY, besides the previous owner having had it “chipped”. I am not sure what software he installed, but it’s definitely been tuned, because it has considerable more pull than a regular 18t! The car was serviced at Westside VW by the previous owner. The carfax report I have indicates all services intervals and what he had worked on. We purchased the car as a fun summer cruiser with the intent to own it for a very long time (It’s our third vehicle). We’re expecting our second child, which is coming sooner than we had thought. And the money from the sale will help purchase a larger family SUV! (hopefully a nice Q7!)
For being nearly a 10 year old car it is very clean inside and out. VW just warrantied some rust repair on the vehicle for us which included rocker panel on both sides (underneath the factory 20th side skirt near the rear wheel arch), replaced the hatch (rust had begun to form underneath the inside lip where the factory water drip is), and did some general touch up of some rock chips. I have all paper work for repair work. When the hatch was replaced they installed the incorrect “GTI” emblem. I was aware of this; apparently they could not find the original through OEM VW parts. I still have the original though which could be installed.

Ratings are my own personal opinions:

Body: 8.5/10 – After a nice wax the 20th shines up well. Front end could use some touch-up, I’m picky, most may not even notice unless you’re really looking. The front spoiler has a few scratches underneath, though not visible unless you’re down there looking for them. No structural cracks!

Interior: 9/10 – Driver side polished interior door pieces have some small dents from previous owner. Looks like small dents from a watch face hitting it while exiting the vehicle. That’s my best CSI report! The driver seat has a slight opening in the stitching; I purchased it this way and haven’t sewed it back up yet. It’s about 2 inches long at most. It’s not a tear just separation in the stitching.

Wheels: 8/10 – Some nicks and scratches, nothing major. No dents or vibrations while cruising at freeway speeds. Baby runs straight and true! Tires measure 7/32

Mechanically: 8/10 – Everything is in working order. Westside just changed the oil and inspected the car. I replaced the Diverter valve (N710) and changed the plugs (NGK 1 range colder, can’t remember the code). The brakes are strong and appear to be pretty new. The carfax report shows them being replaced in April of 2012! Clutch is strong and grips well with no noise or play in the linkage.

I have two key FOBs and the mechanic key. It will also come with the original window sticker!

    That’s that!

Thanks! I really hate to see it go, but sitting in our garage rarely being driven is no place for this GTI.

I plan to get it cleaned up real well today and take some better pictures and upload them ASAP!

Nice looking JB 20th, surprised vw did a rust warranty on the hatch and rockers, with it being 10 yrs old cause I have an 08 Rabbit with the exact problem's and they denied my claim on it....anyways glws on your clean GTI!

I'm bring the 20th in for the timing belt, water pump, and all the extra that go with. Price still firm at 12,000. Now have the confidence of this major maintenance being completed!

    Nice ride man!
With how much Chris Palmer hyped this car up for sale on here it sure wasn't in as good as shape as explained.
GLWS though, A clean stock JB20th should fetch a good dollar.

Right buyer man... Numbered cars fetch dollars from dudes that need that cool factor... Glws... If this was stage 2 and in good shape I'd be throwing an offer down for trade. Gotta love Jb!!!

Thanks! The stock factor at least adds to it in the sense that it was less hammered on and less wear and tear on critical components.

You dont think its in good shape, or just that if it was stage two and still in the shape it is you'd be more interested?

Cant go wrong with Jazz blue!

I think price wise if it was stage 2, rims and tires plus a set of h and r's me and the rest if the forum would be all over it.

We'll have to see what happens with it over the winter if it doesn't sell. Perhaps Ill consider lowering the price soon but not sure. The timing belt will be replaced soon, and I am considering new shocks and a hand full of bushings come winter. There's gotta be some truth in the value of a clean, unmolested car that someone can turn into their own from scratch without worrying about what previous owners did or didn't do...right?!
