Anyone know where I can get the shafts of some Bilstein HDs shortened and rethreaded? I assume that's all I need to do to make them more like the Bilstein sports. Thanks yall.

Hahaaaa thanks Palmer. Howd you get a picture of my cousin? I will check them. Anyone else ever dealt with shortening the top a bit... any idea how much it should be shortened... or how much shorter Bilstein sports are?
Why not just buy the correct shocks? Dumb question I guess, but you'll want the stiffer Sport shock anyways if you're going to lower the car. Is the correct shock not available or is it just to save $$?
It's to save money. I'm building the rabbit for the $2008 Challenge. I got a great deal on some bilstein HDs.... I may just have to sell them. They are just as stiff as the Sports... the shafts are just an inch longer. It wouldn't make that much of a difference. I just thought I'd check to see if anyone had shortened the shafts.
Check this out... this is exactly whay I'm refering to:

Cool
True. Threading a hardened shaft would most likely be pretty tough. If that shaft is hardened then you will run into problems.I would check the shaft and see how hard it is first.
HAha... Yeah I held myself back when I quoted him![]()
It had to be done.
Seriously though, I would imagine that it would take a pretty serious die to cut through some of that hardened stuff. I remember trying to cut a shock with a sawzall once...it get me nowhere.
