Need help choosing a tire

So I'm 20 years old and I've had like 5 cars, only bought one set of brand new tires are they were winter tires. lol kinda sad but I don't know alot about tire sizing. Looking on the tire rack for a good tire, I'm looking for something that is fairly affordable, with a good compromise between cornering, and stickiness for hooking up in a straight line since I'm fwd with about 400whp (estimated) wheel spin seems to be somewhat of a problem. I don't want huge balloon tires like I have now, I want a lower profile tire. I have 17" BBS RKII factory rims from a 2001 Saab 9-5 Aero on my 2006 Saab 9-3 Aero.

400 whp on a front drive car will always have trouble hooking up to matter how much you spend!

so the real question is are you looking for a higher milage tire or something that really sticks to the road?

I'd recommend a Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 for a good all around summer tire. They have good grip in the dry/wet, don't wear obnoxiously fast, decent road noise and best of all they are pretty cheap.

If you are looking for a bit more performance, I'd go with the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Specs. These will outperform the Hankook's at the sake of treadwear, noise and price.

Just my two cents. I'm sure people will have other opinions, it all comes down to personal preference. I have no advice for tire size as i don't have any experience with Saab's.
