    Default Considering a 2001 A4 Avant S-Line

What can you guys tell me about the reliability and what not of this car? it is a 5-speed manual Quattro.

I test drove it today and really liked the ride. It looks small from the outside, but I fit fine in the inside. Has all the fun options and seemingly upgraded seats. It has around 100,000 miles and is for sale by a private owner around here, up in Duluth.

Im going to do my research on it tonight, and if everything checks out, I'll buy it tomorrow morning. Carfax came back good, no wrecks and a clean title. I haven't asked about the timing belt and water pump yet... Ran out of time.

Seemed to have plenty of get up and go... And should be great in the winter months. Any feedback and or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks fellas for all the help u provide me.

    Scott

Also, I'm looking for something sustainable. Something I can keep for at least a couple years and I won't grow bored of fast.

It fits under the umbrella I was looking for earlier this summer.. A manual Quattro wagon.

1.8T always wins. All you need to know.

If regular maintenance has been performed as it should, they're great. Timing belt and water pump service is easy.

Same thing applies, except the 2.8 never wins. It's also meh in the MPG area.

The upside to the 2.8 is that you will have no desire to mod it, since there is really nothing you can do to increase performance outside of a nice air filter and a swiss cheesed airbox.

This would be my first ever Audi... I'll take it in to SVS for a pre-purchase inspection before buying.

What do u mean by never wins? Like a race...? Seemed pretty quick to me. I liked it. Kinda reminded me of the pickup in the 2008 civic si I owned.

Hard to pass this one up. Is this rare at all? 5 speed manual, s-line a4 avant...? I know, too bad it's not the 1.8T, but is that it's only drawback?

A bonus for me is that it's in Duluth and I need something ASAP. And it's euro, and a good price, in my range. Driving the Vanagon as a daily is okaaay... But not what I want for it. I have to drive 200 miles or so tomorrow. Would be nice not to take the Westy all that ways.

They put it wherever it would fit, but yeah, it's a stupid location.

Not really rare, but uncommon. Yeah, it's a s-line avant, but it's a 2.8. The fact it's a 5spd will not help you sell to an enthusiast, if that's what you are going for down the line, since it's still a 2.8.

If you're just looking for a daily, they're not bad, but the 1.8T will get you better mileage around town, and still be more fun than the 2.8 in those times where you want to romp on it (it's still a lot of car for that motor, so don't expect a racecar).

Personally, if that's the style you like, shop around for a 1.8T

I'd prefer manual over auto always. not because I think someone might like it when I sell it.

Just an fyi, there is no such thing as an s-line B5. Maybe you mean sport package?

Also, 1.8T or bust. Even the 1.8T gets boring. I can't imagine driving the 30V.

The 2.8 is a solid motor, just not as fun as the 1.8t. I didn't think they had an S-Line option in 2001
