Default E30 parcel shelf - no aftermarket speakers cut into it

    Hi,

I'm looking for a clean, gray rear parcel shelf for an E30 sedan (not sure if coupe/sedan or the same or not).

I don't have prem. sound but if what you have does have prem. sound, I'd take that too. Prefer non premium sound though.

    Thanks!

    Nick

Forget grey. Once you go black...
I think it looks good on silver and diamonschwarz exterior and will probably do this on all future grey/black interior e30s.
That said, if yours is messed up I've got a tan and a grey shelf, both premium sound cut outs though and both in need of a spray over.
    This one was tan.

Just curious, does an OEM non-premium sound car have any speaker cut outs or is it all flat?

The thing I'm worried about with spraying color on it is 1) getting the color right (yes I know black is preferred) and 2) it getting hard and crunchy.

Is your prem. shelf (pictured) just un-cleanable or does this material not really clean up well? I'm guessing it's a combination of both. What do you want for the gray shelf?

    Thanks!

The premium one is the black one up top. It was tan, i needed black. The cut outs on both are factory cuts. Premium on top, standard on bottom. Theres perferated marks on the bottom for cutting out the larger hole. I believe if you were to have ordered a new shelf on it's own, it would be flat/no holes.

The 'grey' ones start a lot darker (check the edges in the picture) so it's usually not a matter of cleaning, but sun faded. These can be recovered too with new fabric, if so inclined.

As far as getting crunchy, you can take a brush or the edge of something flat and work the fabric till its kinda soft again. But my thing is, when are you going to touch it? I probably wouldn't dye/paint floor carpeting for that same reason but I wasn't worried about the shelf at all.

I just went and double checked my part shelves, guess I was wrong. The grey one is for an early body, the tan one has small cut outs.
    $10 for the tan shelf.

Heres the grey one I have. More the likely I'll end up painting this, or both of em black at some point and have a better chance of selling em.

Interesting, thank you very much for the info and sorry for the late reply. I think mine is actually still good then. A friend of mine had said what I had (appears they're 4" speakers - non-premium) was not "stock". I was worried "stock" had no cutouts at all, i.e. the speakers mounted below the shelf and the shelf had perferated holes. My self looks like the tan one (from the pictures I have, I haven't seen the car in a month where the speakers are mounted to the top using four screws; the speakers themselves have a square bezel.

So, all of that said, I think I'm good with mine. I don't remember how nasty it is. I do like the black but I think I would only do a black rear shelf if I had a black headliner which I'm def. not doing any time soon

    Thanks guys!

I have a light gray shelf in good condition. It's the shelf with the gap for the brake light like the shelves in the pictures people are posting. I'm willing to trade for something you have of similar value. Let me know. Since my car is a Euro, I guess I can claim it's a Euro rear Shelf....LOL...
