I need room for a kid.
yea.... just watch out for those rotted out rear window tracks. A new window is like $600

Your cock blocking like half the people on eurowerks with that statement.
Window is securely parked in the up position. It comes off the tracks if I roll it down though so I need to look at why.
its because the rear window tracks have rusted paper thin and the window is bending the tracks when you roll it down jamming.

Chad, this is what you should do for the sub.(forgot can't post link to non sponsors..) search bill fitzmaurice and check out his forums for speaker design ideas. I have the plans and have been wanting to build one. (I actually have the CD with all of the plans as I am building my own dj speakers now... sold my QSC stuff)

Why can't you post links to non sponsors? That is silly.
There is no rule about posting non-sponsor links that I know of.
You need to synthesize Rob's instructions with my spoon feeding.
And yet the spoon feeding continues.

I'm a little late to the party but congrats, nice truck! I'm currently on my 5th Toyota truck and as much as I love my FJ, I miss my 3rd gen Runner. I bought mine in 07 and sold in on a whim last year to a forum member here and a good buddy who still has the truck and loves it as much as I did.
3rd gens are solid trucks and it sounds like you are in tune with the known issues with the radiator/trans cooler and ball joints. There was a recall on the ball joints quite a few years ago so you may want to check if your truck was done. Mine wasn't and had Maplewood Toyota take care of. If my memory is right, didnt you used to race R/C? Remember Bill Dalgaard? He is a good friend of mine and is a service writer there. Go see him is you need anything done.
The only issues I ever had with mine had to do with the radiator and brakes. I sourced a new all metal radiator online as the plastic end tank cracked on the original. I also kept warping front rotors and it was due to the rear drums being out of adjustment. The truck is just too heavy to expect the fronts to do all the work...lol. As for suspension, mine had 100k on it when I bought it and I wanted to freshen everything up and go with a mild lift as well. Check out: http://sonoransteel.com/ This guy knows his stuff and has created a number of different lift kits using OEM Toyota parts from the Tundra and LandCruisers. I ended up with the System 1.0 which has now progressed to what they call the 1.2. It still had a very streetable ride and was able to clear some decent tires. I never took it offroad but it was certainly capable based on the kit that Steve at Sonoran created. With all that said, your MPG's will definitely take a hit if you decide to lift it and put bigger tires on. Regardless, Sonoran has some good options. I plan on ordering one of their suspension kits for my FJ soon.
Yeah, I remember Bill. Small world.
Thanks for the info. I am looking for a very mild lift mainly because it needs shocks and the rear springs are starting to sag. The lift will fix both.
Also, I read that the front brakes are undersized on these. The Tacoma front discs are larger and the parts fit my truck, so when it comes time to do brakes I may upgrade.
I am REALLY liking this truck so far.
My average MPG last tank was 19 again, so my mileage probably comes down to driving habits.
