    Default Sportruck in Nebraska

Saved this Sportruck last night from a hot small concrete garage up in Omaha.
Its been sitting in the garage since November of last year. Not running since September / October 2011.

Since i am not making my way up to Eurowerks today - i think i might actually work on the truck tonight to see if i cant get it to start up and go....

    huh?

i hope it simple - been sitting so long he was having fuel issues.

would start hard, then run for a few block then die and not want to start - sounded like vapor lock to me at first - but i think it could the fpr - I havent even been able to start it yet, that is just how previous owner described it..

it cranks really slow even with a good battery in there and wont start right now , there is a battery cut off switch on the negative battery post i am going to remove it as it might be bad - then try to start it..

I think its an obd1 ABA engine as the date on the ECU is 4-95 - i didnt see an OBD port anywhere in the car so wasnt sure if there was one installed with the install.

Hanging onto this one, or going up for sale once it's sorted?

well got it to crank after attempting a jump start directly to the starter, it cranked better - so took battery into autozone - it tested good so bought new postive battery cable and that solved that problem.. cranks like a champ - but still wont start - fuel pump on - was by myself so didnt check spark.. hopefully get it fired up tomorrow.

digging through my stuff - realized that i have a matching ECU from ABA Jetta a few years ago - so just in case..

Well still dont have spark - but i think i did figure out the hot start / dying issue.

Pulled off the FPR to see if it was getting fuel.

Metal shavings ALL OVER inside the fuel rail - that fuel cell must be bad - he just replaced the fuel pump, probably because of the metal shavings inside -

So i guess i am going to hunt for a new fuel cell / better one - i have a stock tank i think in Iowa off one of my part trucks...

i did buy RML snowflakes for it today.

after sleeping on it, the tank can not produce small metal filings so the fuel pump he replaced must of been doing the metal shredding -

need to figure out why we have no spark - then i will replace the fuel filters and blow out the fuel lines.. maybe i wont need a tank.

in the mean-time - my friend in Germany sent me this:
