020 Transmission help

Okay as stated in my intro thread, I have lost 5th. Guesses are either the actual Trans, or linkage. I am going to church the fluid, and the white plastic linkage piece. What else should I look for before buying another Trans?

Take it to chad at SCI....if it is ONLY 5th gear, he can swap just that gear out! Plus the transmission can stay in the car, so the labor shouldn't be too bad.

If you are real unlucky the 5th gear chunks have worked their way through the rest of the tranny and busted up more gears.

Well it shifts great through every gear, but fifth is like its not even there

So I peeked in the fill hole at fifth, its rounded off,. how much is a fifth gear roughly? I can do the work myself.

I know what you mean, but it shifts perfectly 1-4, and reverse.

Go to Upullrparts.com and go get one. I normally have a couple but Chad has all of my misc. o2o bits right now.

Well I live in Fargo, I don't think there is any upulls around here.

so find a junkyard that will sell you:
-just the 5th gear
-a junk trans
-a whole trans.

or start shopping/place and add in the classifieds
