Sweet rig man!
Only question is why didn't you go with the Excursion? It has a straight axle so it will accept a plow better, you can get a diesel and it has a better quality interior (in my opinion)
-Chris
We hated the interior on the Excursion. It's waaaaay outdated. Additionally, we use our 3rd row daily and the Excursion has this weird mid-height third row that only comes to the middle of your back. Not comfortable for long trips.

After picking up our Discovery I've seen so many of this generation of 3/4 'burbs for such decent prices, it makes me really wish I would have gone this route, or even a crew cab 3/4 ton short box pickup. My coworker has one of this vintage with 230k+ and has owned since new. It has been a great truck for him.
Oddly, even with the 8.1 the fuel mileage is probably similar to what I see, and there is soooo much more room. Although my wife really didn't want something that large, so I suppose it is a moot point.
As others mentioned, it's always baffled me why you couldn't get a Duramax in these. Either way, it looks like a nice truck!
My dad has a 2500 hd with the 8.1 in it and got 4.3 MPG average pulling the camper out to Colorado. Got ALMOST 12 unloaded on the way home....... The second time he did I just let him burrow my Duramax......
But the 8.1 did a good job pulling it even in the mountains.....and it sounds like an old school muscle car.
The Cadillac 500 cid V8 is 8.2L.
The common 350 is only 5.7L.
Nice buy man.
A guy at work went with a big conversion van as his tow vehicle. I asked him why in the hell he would get that and he told me about the fuel savings with the 2WD system over the 4WD on the 3/4 Tahoes and Suburbans. I could kinda see his point, but then I was like "if you are so concerned about mileage why didn't you get a diesel?"
The wife doesn't like the icky black smoke was is frowny faced reply.
Sally.
i've always wondered why they dont put diesels in larger suvs and smaller pick-ups as well. After owning my f350 dump truck with the 7.3 powerstroke and averaging 17-20 mpgs with the chip i just dont understand why we dont use diesel power more....
also my uncle is pushing 300k on his burbin!
Too bad for him. My wife actually doesn't mind the diesel trucks.
First mod was towing mirrors.

I love my F-250's towning mirrors, they make me happy inside because I can see everything

Nice truck.
I have naughty dreams about 3500 Suburbans with diesels and duallie rears.

Those dually Suburbans are crazy!
Brake controller is in. Drove it for about an hour hooked up to the new truck. What a difference! The 3/4 Ton pulls the trailer easily where the 1/2 Ton struggled on hills and starting from a dead stop.

Looks sweet, do you have any trips planned for the summer?
