After I sold the E34 a while back, my search for a tow vehicle got more serious. After looking at a bunch of options, I decided a Suburban 2500 would fit my needs for its capability and seating options. It also helps that I'm very familiar with these trucks as it's the 6th Suburban we've owned. We pull a 30 foot travel trailer and have three kids - two that are teenagers and want to bring friends regularly so a pickup wouldn't work.
Initially I wanted a GMT900 (newer style) Suburban but the price difference with similar miles and options I wanted was nearly $10k. Not worth it for me.
I found this 2006 with 89k miles, 2LT, Autoride, leather, navigation, second row captains chairs, extra capacity oil and trans coolers, larger fuel tank, etc and the 8.1L stump puller/gas guzzler. Not sure which gears it has, I think the options were 3.73 or 4.10. Going to do some maintenance items and it goes in later this week to get a brake controller installed & get the weight distribution/sway control hitch moved over from our 2004 1/2 Ton Suburban to this new one.
