Default Work Ryver Touring Wheel Build

First off I want to give a HUGE thank you to Majend (Alex) for all his help during this. Would have not happened with out his help, thanks buddy.

And also vw_girl (Kelsey) who let me keep dismantled wheels all over the house, and even helped hand polish all of the 160 wheel bolts, then bolt the wheels all together by hand.

Alright with the formality out of the way.. Since the cat will be out of the bag tomorrow at LBR, I wanted to get a thread up showing the restoration/ build/ refinishing of the wheels that has happened over the past few months. Another shout out to Inthermo where the faces sat in an acid bath, and Twin City Powder Coat for the awesome finish.

I needed wheels for the 337, and after some persuading from a set of Tarmacs, I ended up with a set of vintage, rare, 16 year old Work Ryver Touring 3-Piece wheels.

    SPECS

Here is how they said they were going to look:

    And here's what I got:

Next up was to take em all apart. It was pretty awesome, we only stripped 2 of the 160 bolts. We also found them to have never been fully split before. On to pictures..

First soaked em in some WD-40:

The bolts all have Work stamped on them, and they were all original, just needed to be polished quite a bit to get em looking better than this :

    All bolts out:

Once they were apart I sent the faces to Inthermo for a week to sit in an acid bath, then to TC Powder for sandblast and paint.

Since they didn't have the original valve stems, I got in contact with Work to try and make an actual work valve stem, work. Since the wheel is 16 years old, they didn't make the same valve stem, but luckily the guy at Work worked with me to find a current one that would. Here was the difference in what we pulled off, and the Work one I put in.

Next up was putting them back together:

Needed to run adapters, but 42 DD sent a wrong one..

So the car waited on stands...

But, now here's a teaser until I can get a good shot.

Thank you so much Kasey for letting me help you with the wheels, it was easily the most fun i have ever had working on a set of wheels.

i still can't believe how amazing these turned out. you all should have seen Kasey's face when i put the car back down on the ground after i spun the coils down, i thought he was going to cry. And in case anyone is wondering the car only rubs on really big bumps even with the 225 tires front and rear. Yes it is possible to run JDM wheels under the stock arches with a decent tire size, i am hoping to see this add some diversity to the wheels being used in the euro scene.

Kasey you now have my favorite 337, period. (sorry justin )

This should look pretty swell when you lower it.

Those looks great! I wonder if there is a way for you to stencil the "Touring" script back onto the wheel faces, I really liked that.

well they could go lower if you took the perches out hehe and there is just under an inch left in the fronts but given that you are running the stock FSB and frame rails i think it is just about perfect
