Why do you want an aftermarket filter for your tiguan? Street racing?

why does anyone put any intake of aftermarket filter on any car? more air flow.... i need a new air filter anyways, if i am going to spend money i might as well upgrade it with something reusable..

Just as an FYI, but you may already know this, a high flow air filter on the 2.0TSI does absolutely nothing for power without a software tune. With a tune it'll probably get you another 5-7hp, and it'll feel a bit better on the top end.

You already need a new filter on a 2012? A $20 drop in filter is a lot less than $300 for the carbonio and will accomplish the same thing with stock tuning, but if you are set on getting an aftermarket intake, it's a very popular setup.

Go with APR, you won't regret it. & once you add a tune, you'll really like it.

If it's just for sound, don't get the APR, it's really quiet. I have the BSH tru-seal, and like it quite a bit. They are all pretty much the same. I think APR over-charges just for their name though.

the plan is the APR tune down the road. as well as all the other fun stuff i can do but the intake is just one of many...

i dont need the filter yet but i always get my info before i need to so when i do i get what i want..

i had a K/n on my GLI and it was pretty loud... maybe to much

does the stage 2 vs stage 1 carbonio change the sound any ? not sure i want it really loud again...

I also had the K&N one for a while before switching. It was really loud compared to the BSH. I would imagine stage 2 would be a little more audible as it is a little more free-flowing than stage 1.

The carbonio stage 2 (and APR admits this) does nothing much for sound or HP. It does add a tiny bit more sound, but it's really about a more completely and clean engine look. Most people say it's a giant waste of money.

The carbonio is 50% of the cost of a stage 1 tune. If you are thinking of getting one, I'd recommend just saving up a little more and get the tune first instead. The tune on the TSI motor is fantastic.

Don't think he's really concerned with the cost of it, more interested in cleaning up the engine bay and upgrading as things need to be replaced.

But yea part of it is function but a clean engine bay is always nice..

Plus i want to know if anyone had issues with a brand so i know what to stay away from ( aka k/n)

In general, I'd beware of the intakes that move the MAF sensor from it's stock location, especially if it moves it back behind the bend so that it's on the back side of the motor instead of on the driver's side. Some tunes work okay with this, but some don't. Many people believe the turbulence on the back side of the bend doesn't yield accurate MAF readings and messes with things. Other than that, most of them seem to work about the same, so I'd just pick the one that you like the looks/price of and run with that.

You might want to read up on golfmk6.com since it's the same motor as the GTI and that forum has a crazy amount of TSI info on it.

gut the stock box and drop in a k and n. maybe cut the bottom of the box open where you cannot see it.
    looks stock and clean.
