Looks like NAPA has remanufactured calipers for around $75 (plus core, which shouldn't be an issue). They don't show as in stock at any stores around Duluth, but they do show as being in stock at their warehouse. Might be worth giving them a call.

It might be worth checking with other stores like Advance, O'Reiley, Autozone...just see if someone can get a remanufactured caliper in today. You might get lucky. At lot of those places you can check their website to see if they show any in stock at the stores nearby your location. They're bound to be much cheaper than $300.

You are correct my friend. Thanks for that info. I called all around and no one has anything. I tried to scrap the part at the salvage yard, but it looks worse than mine. So, no luck. Also, the alloys I refinished and put tires on don't fit on my vanagon. I guess they would need longer bolts and even then may not work.

The tires on my steelies are shot, so for now It looks like I won't make it down tomorrow. I was really looking forward to it and am really pretty sad not to be able to go. I'm pretty frustrated, but there's nothing I can do about either problem today.

Have fun guys. I can't remember what all was included with registration, if there's tshirts or something... But I guess I won't be able to make it.

Yeah, my wife thinks I should do that because I'm so pissy that I couldn't get the parts figured out for the vanagon so I could show it. I'll think about it.

I'll be coming down in my daily driver to spectate tomorrow. My daily driver is a 2007 ex squad car, all white. Kinda looks undercover. Sorry I can't bring my Westy down and be a part of the show. But I'm looking forward to maybe meeting some of you and seeing the cars I see on here, in person.

Maybe see some of you tomorrow. Thanks for the offer Majend! super nice of you. Seriously.

Do I need to formally inform anyone that I will be coming as a spectator and will not be using my reserved spot at the show? maybe kris can still sell my spot to someone else?

After going to the show, I'm kinda glad I didn't bring the Westy... I'd rather have it done.. Painted, wheels, lowered, polished up, etc. before I show it at a show like eurowerks. The cars looked great yesterday! And I finally bought a eurowerks sticker. $1. What a deal! Back to work on this project.

I'll be starting a poll soon here on what color to paint the Westy. I wish I knew how to photoshop to give examples of the color options. So far we've contemplated white, black, original teracotta orange, olive green or other greens, and that's about it.

I like the idea of staying original, but the original color seems flat and boring... I don't know..

i think the orange would be cool, as would an olive green. i think any odd, ugly vintage color would look awesome on it! white would just be too plain, i think you'd want something that stands out a bit more after a while.

If you get it detailed, any color should stand out.

    Nice link! ^^

Never seen that. Out of those colors listed, I like the Assuan Brown the best... my original color. The curtains and cusions have a lot o green in them tho. Thats one of the reason I am considering a green of sorts.

    Nice string of pics!! ^^^^

I'll prob go original and try to make the original color just a touch brighter...

I have a current barrier that I need help with. The Vanagon I have has studs in the back and bolts in the fron to mount the wheels. The current and original equipment is only sized to fit steelies. I need longer studs and bolts. I have tried every shop in Duluth... No hope there. They all say to ask in a forum. So... Can anyone help me with this problem? thanks in advance...
