    Default MK1 Square Headlight ASAP

I thought I made a post yesterday on this, but cant find it. Anyway, a semi threw up a rock at my headlight on the way to work and broke the glass on my headlight. It is a square passenger side headlight for a 1986 VW Rabbit. Anybody have one?

'86 is Mk2 so it would be a Golf. Is it a Westmoreland (sealed beam) front end?

You should be able to go to any auto parts store and find a 5x7 sealed beam headlamp for around $10. It won't be amazing for quality of output, but it's better than a broken headlight.

Oh, yeah. Totally late Westy Mk1. Technically it's a Caribe or Citi Golf I think, sorry.

You can get regular sealed beams anywhere (NAPA says $10 per), but I got a pair of H4's on Ebay for like $30 and they work fine. Then you just replace the bulb and keep the housing.

Thanks for the info guys, I think they are already converted because it appears as if you can just replace the bulbs. I will check on it when I have some time this weekend.

They are H4s, so looks like I will be trying to find some of those.

    PM'd, but for future reference,

Late Westy 81-84 Rabbit and GTI sealed beam headlight (optional halogen sealed beam)

    US Trade No. H 6054
    VW parts number N 19 151 1

    7x6

Early Westy should be the same light and part number, but my Bentley doesn't officially list that.
