    Default wink, nudge, r12

My summer car doesn't have working AC.
It's an R12 system that has not been converted to R134.
Not sure if the system leaks currently and I don't want to reinvent the wheel, just want to find someone who knows what they are doing Tim's Custom Exhaust style.

If anyone, AHEM, can POINT ME TO THEIR GUY, who can AHEM! ... charge my AC (naturally I am of course only talking about charging it with R134, not that insanely cold stuff R12 which my car is already set up for because wow, i don't know why i would want that) [/legal department]
...then please send me a PM.

you can find r12 for sale. its not illegal to sell sideways. its just quite expensive. its a bummer to fill it up if you have a leak...

Just remember that if you are switching to R-134a you need to have them pull the mineral oil out and replace it with PAG oil. Also what year, model, make etc is the car? Depending on that you might also need some other stuff.

How hard is it to convert to 134? Id like some AC for those humid July days if possible.

Depending on the year, it can be really easy. I swapped my 91 e30 vert in about 30 minutes.

We still carry r12 in our shop for special applications

That said the 134a conversion isnt difficult...i did the conversion for my 6 series and it works fine. I like my ac on hot days its a requirement for me, esp with my horrible allergies.

All you need is someone with a vacuum pump and gauge.

Put the system under a vacuum, see if it holds. If it does, recharge it. If it doesn't, then find the leak.

I have a shop vacuum. Can I test my AC with this?

If it leaks, the circuit needs to be opened to repair the seal. (I don't want to f with that)
If the circuit needs to be opened, air gets in (all i know is that's bad)
If system needs to be evacuated, i don't have the equipment
solution: I need someone with practical r12 experience and know-how

And I found a guy. Will get out there this coming weekend or the next.

AC hasn't been run in at least 5 years and OE equipment is 25 years old, so my planning goes straight to worst-case.
