Default Someone who has a tap & die to do my shift knob

I just got a free shift knob from someone at my dads work, and obviously it doesnt fit on my shifter.will probably need to be drilled out and threaded but i dont have any of the tools to do it.
i could give you a monetary fee, or something like pop, food, etc whatever we can come to a deal with

    thanks!

not sure on the size but its for an mk2 jetta

but the shift knob i want to use doesnt actually have threads in it, so it would need to be drilled i think

best i could do for pics

    Interesting shift knob

Does the stock shift know screw on or does it have a set screw to hold it in place? I'm not familiar with the Jetta.

So the opening is smaller than the shifter shaft? If so, then it shouldn't be hard to do. I have installed a few 8 balls on various cars, so I have certainly done it before. If it needs to be drilled out though, I don't have a bit for metal that would be large enough.
It is not that you CAN'T, it is that you don't know how..... YET

I seem to remember that mk2 is either 12mm by 1.5 or 14mm by 1.5. Or maybe I am just remembering lug bolt size.

Anyway, it is larger than most common tap and die sets go. I had to hunt around a bit to find the right size to extend the threads on my shifter shaft a bit to get the mk3 DE knob and boot to fit properly.

Set screws or tap it. Just saying going to need an auto repair shop or machine shop to have a tap that large. The normal home/shop use kits are not that big. And buying a tap that big will set you back probably more cash than it is worth.
