Default 2013 Ford Focus ST, opinions??

    Hey everyone,

I've been poking around looking for something newer.. I've mostly been focused on a MKV or VI 4-door GTI, but I came accross the 2013 Focus ST tonight and kinda liked it. What do you guys think??

The market is fairly limited on 4-door hatchbacks!

Ill post some pics of it when I have time.

Close to $30k to get the Recaros and HIDs. Not worth it.

A 2012 GTI loaded similarly comes close to $32k, but starts at only 200hp, compared to 252hp in the focus ST.

Anyways, other competitors with these 4 door hatchbacks? Other opinions on the 2013 ST?

the ST is a great car from what i've heard, i just dunno if i could live with that massive grille, kinda reminds me of a bull frog. It'll have more power out of the box than a standard GTI, but i think in the long run you'd be happier with a GTI over a focus -- and thats been the case for the past few generations of high performance focuses that the UK has had for a few years -- they've all been great and more powerful than the GTI, but there is a lot to be said about the GTI's simplicity about the way that it performs that still makes it the one of the world's best hot hatches.

and if your going to spend 30k on a fully spec'ed Focus ST, you're not far off from the Golf R with similar power + AWD.

that said though, i'll give credit where its due...i do like the new focus and its decades ahead of the shitbox it replaced. they're nice cars.

    A 4 door Golf R is $10K more

And while I like the concept of the golf R, I kinda like the mpg of the focus ST and/or the GTI. The AWD really kills the Mpg's.

with options, the ST will be at the 30k mark if not slightly past that, and the R 4 door is only 35k.

The ST has made me consider going back to my Ford roots. On paper it seems like a good deal to me.

Been digging the looks of the new focus for sure. The coupe-thing they have out is kinda cool looking but until they bring either the diesel or RS here i dont think i could ever find myself buying one.
