    Default Project: The Turtle

Hey everyone, well I just got my first job at Menards, and start Tomorrow, so that means money in my pocket and some will go to my car and upgrades.
Now i hope this thread doesnt turn into a joke like some of my other threads, when i had little to no idea how anything worked, now i have a little bit more of an idea, and still planning to learn more.
before i start with telling you about my car now, i would like to say thanks for all the help everyone has given me in the past with different things, i really appreciate it, so i would like to say thanks again.
    ~Tyler

    start off with the car.
1996 VW Jetta GLS 2.0 aka "The Turtle"
100,600 miles pretty great for a mk3 jetta ehh?
Got the car as my second car, first one was a 1999 Jetta Wolfsburg that was a lemon too bad the thing was pretty nice too, minus the automatic. The car when I got it, had 95k on it, with one owner! no crashes or anything! just about everything is OEM, so i guess i can make my car how i want it from fresh. now this build isnt gunna be anything insane or anything, i would maybe say somehting less than a budget build, but heck its my first project, and i have time for many more, no taking short cuts, this will be a simple build with not minor or major upgrades just some upgrades here and there. the only upgrade so far is the short ram intake or cold air intake what ever its called, i always hear different names.

    Future Plans so far...
raceland or rokkor Coils, kinda leaning more toward rokkors mainly longer warrinty.
    glx smoked tails
    ecodes
new seats, good priced recaro's or something, not really a major thing now just something
mercedes 15 slots i know theres some for sale right now, but i have no money.
or corvette salad shooters in white would look pretty dope
theres defenately more things i would like to do, but thats what is reasonable for now.
    Pictures...
what it looks as of today, repainted the hubs to match steelies, no joke reminds me of some bbs RA's, and yes it needs moar lows.

the super sketchy metal wire holder till i get a heat shield put in, also what do i do with the lower tube now? just leave it there?

    older pic, dirty back

Im sorry, but your black hub caps do not look like BBS's. They look like black hubcaps. Anyways the car look real clean, it will be interesting to see what you do to it.

everytime i see a jetta with smoked tail lights the outer ones are gone. it tough you gotta keep checking the site to see when they get a fresh one so you can be the first to get a whole set.

The black caps are better than some plastic fake chrome spinners.

    Clean looking car.

^ never had chrome spinners... those are the chrome hubs though, painted them black with shinny clear coat last night, looks pretty good for a set of 20$ hubs, cant really complain.

The car does look pretty clean. Have you picked up a Bentley yet? If not, I would suggest starting with that and then getting the car into proper running order(motor mount(s) if you haven't sorted out that clunking yet). Then let the modifications commence! Just remember that a stock car that runs well is better than a modified car that runs like crap.

I didn't think the black wheel covers would look good but they're actually alright. Would be better with just steelies IMO but it's not my car. You might consider red-tinting the rear turn signals instead of smoking them because red on red = sex.

Interested to see where this goes.

thanks JigsN Rigs, had a feeling you would hate, but what ever. Really if your gunna post stuff like that, how bout you dont at all, just being respectful and stuff, its only my first car, my first project, and still learning. just because i've never had a chance to mod a car to how i want it to be doesnt mean i cant learn or anything, ive learned alot so far, and i hate when people do this too. im gunna turn it into the car i want it to be, and if you dont like it, well then dont even post anything.

other than that thanks for the comments guy, the bently i msged Jungle, he said he had one, never got back to me... and sevn7 ive seen the red on red, but doing that seems like too much red for my car, wanna kinda even it out smoked will go with the trim, and hubs. also with hubs back on, the steelies are rusted, and ive tried cleaning them with iron wool, kinda helped but still, ill just run the hubs till i find something i like. Also, motor mounts still need replacing, will wait for first pay check for that.
