Default Diesel guys, I need some help.

I have a 2001 tdi and I'm looking to get the diesel geek egr delete so I can stop doing the intake cleanings every so often. Any downsides to doing this? Will it throw a cel? any way from preventing a cel?
    any opinion helps!

It will through a code once you remove the unit. The only way around it is to have someone write the code into the ECU flash for no EGR. This way you get no CEL and a chip tune! chip tune is the best bang for buck you can do for your TDI, it will get you more power and better MPG.

Do it! Like sprstu said, you will get a code, but just get a chip and let them know you did the EGR delete. Well worth the money for the kit. Sounds silly, but make sure they send you the block off plate. Seems like a no brainer, but I have seen it not show up before when you purchase the kit.

Then chip, bigger injectors, and smile!

And for your CEL, if you want the $2 fix versus the chip (a chip is worth it).

I chose to go the chip route (though I'll just delete it if I ever have issues with it). MaloneTuning offers a "Dynamic EGR" option that cycles the EGR until the engine warms to ~140F.

Your intake is still clogging with ULSD?

Another thing you can do, for free, unhook the 5mm hose going to the EGR then plug it and tie it up. you will get a CEL. - maybe limp mode.
Your cooler and all that other garbage will still be hanging out back there unless you get rid of it, block it off and get the hoses. I have a few straight connectors if you want to try and jerry-rig your own hose.

Thanks for the help guys looks like I'll have to go the chip route on this one. Also was going to ask... I have a very minor coolant leak but can't find a hose of connection. Really hoping its not a head but I'm putting about a half gallon in every two months. I am getting a little white smoke but only on start up.

Could code the EGR duty cycle down to next to nothing. that would work too...

Then you would retain the anti shutter valve and still not require cleanings. Really depends on what kind of money you want to stick into it.

I know I have plenty into mine

White smoke could be incorrect timing.
Check the drivers side of the head, above the transmission. I have seen that flange leak, or around the coolant temp sensor on multiple occasions.
I doubt you've blown the head gasket. I've doubled the power of mine on stock engine and head bolts and mine is doing just fine.

I'm not saying due to power the thing is stock. Just trying to find the missing coolant and thought the white smoke was suspect

I personally wouldn't run Revo. They are a vanilla tune.

I would go with either Malone Tuning or TDTuning. Rocketchip is difficult to get ahold of and he won't let you use loaders so you must either get tuned in person(ask Isonic about his 24 hour drive each way) or mail your ECU to him.

There is a Malone dealer in Hudson or nearby now.

My project car is getting tuned by either Malone, TDTuning, or this one guy in Germany who does some really cool stuff.
My Passat runs a Malone tune.

I have no idea what their experience is with TDI's.
