Maybe a can of Mountain Dew...

Also for me, riding the bus to work is always an option. That is $3 one way. So for $6 a day I get a ride to work and back. Right now it is sort of a wash for me since I usually get 25-31 mpg when I drive to work and my job is 23 miles away so I am using just under 1 gallon of gas one way. Most days it isn't any cheaper to ride the bus. But if my next car gets worse gas mileage than I get now and or gas prices go up higher then the bus will start to look more and more appealing. Right now the bus blows, I am too tall to ever be comfortable and I have to wake up one hour early to get to work at the same time.

But if you are under 6ft tall and have a bus route as an option, it really can be pretty nice not dealing with traffic. Especially on days when it snows.

That's $1 more for every $25 you spend on gas. Does it really matter/

Wireclimer (Logan) is in germany right now. He sent me a pic of a fuel station sign, Premium was 1.89Euro/Liter.

    That works out to (using $2.55 = 1.89Euro and 1 gallon = 3.78L)
    $9.63/gallon.

I think at under $4 were still looking pretty fucking good.

how is that a legitimate way to compare economies? Ours is far bigger/stronger/more buying power. I dont like that rationale. We aren't europe. nor should be settle for what we have just because they are paying more.

Plus don't some european countries have some crazy % tax on their fuels? IIRC something like 1/3 of the cost of gas is in taxes alone?

Liberals like to spout off about how drilling for oil will have no impact on gas prices because it will be exported.....and they are right.

And along with that gas prices are basically the same worldwide, only difference is the tax and government required additives.

They like to say "WOW LOOK HOW LUCKY WE ARE, ITS $10/GALLON IN THE UK!!!!". Um, no......its because of all the taxes there.

I think its actually worse than that. 30% isnt too far off what we pay here. the government makes more on gas than the oil companies.

The map above from API shows gasoline taxes by state (combined local, state and federal), which range from a low of 26.4 cents per gallon in Alaska to a high of of 66.1 cents per gallon in California, averaging 48.1 cents per gallon across all states. How does that compare to oil company industry profits per gallon?
According to this post on Exxon Mobil’s Perspective Blog , “For every gallon of gasoline, diesel or finished products we manufactured and sold in the United States in the last three months of 2010, we earned a little more than 2 cents per gallon. That’s not a typo. Two cents.”

Canada sells most of their oil to us so they are paying almost $2.50 per liter.

When I went to Thunder Bay my friends advised me to get fuel at the casino just south of the boarder so that I could survive the weekend without having to buy gas up there.

As the rest of the world moves away from the dollar as the world currency the price of gasoline will go up large amounts. Expect it,live with it.

How about I dont expect and live with it? How about I expect those that control the supply to do the right thing?
