We just changed a thermostat in a 98 Aba and drained the coolant.... If I thoroughly flush the radiator and coolant system. Would it harm the motor if I switched to conventional green coolant from g12 coolant

Somewhere I saw a thread where a guy did a test with different coolants and pieces of metal, came out that G12 really has much better corrosion protection than most other stuff you can find.
I don't really see the benefit of attempting this either, it could cause you a lot of headaches, and g12 is not that expensive for how often you need to flush or refill coolant that it would be wort switching.
If the G12 is completely gone, sure, but like posted above, it's superior coolant.
Just don't mix the two. I've seen the result, it was a fucking headache to clean out.
