You may have noticed how there haven't been any Spotlights recently, it's due to the simple fact that most active memembers have a been asked and either declined/didn't respond/participated already. If you would like to be featured, I'd be more than happy to make it happen.
This week as a special edition of the Eurowerks Member Spotlight we get to know a good friend of mine and great guy, even if he doesn't get out as much as he ought to. Also my old roommateSay hello to Aaron!
-What kind of car(s) do you have? Modifications, future plans?
First car I present to you is my 89 Gti. It is a 16v that I built from pretty much a useless shell. Why did I put it back together? I don’t even know. Perhaps I was bored? All rebuild front suspension, bushings, steering rack converted to manual. Removed the ac, and modified brackets to get the alternator to work minus the ac belt. Cleaned up the bay and was going to paint the whole car, but its purpose changed after the bomber started taking a crap. Cheap coilovers and sits on 15” RS’s. It is now doing daily duties.
Started off sort of like this.
Ended like so
My other car that I have been enjoying now that I have it driving again is my 87 olds. Always wanted a g body because of my dad, and his variation of 80’s monte ss’s and his 87 442 that sits around 500hp. This one started its life as a v6 car with a 3spd auto. It underwent a couple of motor swaps, always to a larger engine (307), and now has a 350 olds in it with a t56 6 speed manual transmission. Via a few custom parts, cursing, spilling trans fluid and plenty of work and money. Its nice to have pretty much the only small block olds powered g body with a six speed in the country. Most that are converted have a chevy motor in them. Looks like so.
-Any previous cars you'd like to mention?
Yep, the car that started it all. Le bomber (its French just for Kyle). This is the car that got me into euro/eurowerks, and was pretty much like taking an adventure every time I drove it. The adventure being whether or not we would make it to the destination without dying/getting stranded. However, this car proved to be surprisingly reliable for a 500 beater car. It did leave me stranded once, when the furious 8v blew up a clutch disk. Drove this thing for almost three years before trading it for my crappy truck, When this one was on its way out. Crappy car for crappy truck, seemed like a fair trade.
Started off blue and rusty, with a side of Eric washing it for me.
Ended similar to this. This was the start of its last winter with me.
Also it moves beds
-If you could have just one car, what would it be and why?
That is a hard one. I’ve liked these for quite some time. 87 gtx/65-6 chevelle/442 a body platform. I don’t really have one and only one dream car I guess.
-What's your real name?
Aaron Schweigert
Just got married in Sept. this is me and the wife.
And since its almost Halloween.
-What does your screen name mean, and why did you choose it?
Well, it started out as the blue_bomber, however once the bomber wasn’t blue anymore I changed it to simply, the_bomber
-What kind of job do you have?
As of right now I am doing mechanical design and engineering work. Mostly contracts for john deere right now through my company.
-Tell us an interesting/funny story about yourself.
I keep thinking of stories involving Kyle, but we will save those for another time.
I’ll start with this instead. One night sitting in the garage back in savage, I was given an offer to buy a trebuchet. All for the low low price of one dollar. We thought this was a great deal for something that could launch things across the yard, well. Well a couple weeks go by, and then we take delivery of our contraption a friend built in school. We were given a pile of wood, some bolts/screws and a picture of what it looked like. Me and Tim started construction and had the thing together surprisingly quickly. Loaded it up with some weight, and launched some sort of fruit across the road. I believe it was an apple, or something. Anyhow, the thing was awesome, and we kept trying to find things to launch into our neighbors yards. We shot random plastic things, rocks, apples and other things from the fridge. Anyhow, its life was short lived when our landlord yelled at us for having such things, we cut it down and burned it. Doesn’t seem as interesting once reading through it, but if you were there it was entertaining.
(The_Stig) Note: Tim = BimmerTim, and the trebuchet came from my friend Mike who made it for his senior project in high school. They also wanted it to launch stuff at Prior Lake since our house was on the border.
Well, this goes back to the days of Taco Bell. Yes, I worked there for a year when I was 16. The night started off pretty normally, taking orders in the drive thru. I was working with two other people on a close. My manager friend Mike, and Kallie. She hated my guts at this point in time based strictly on the fact that I had reddish hair. ( Later found out its because her brother both had red hair, and were mean to her apparently.) anyhow, besides the point. Alright, so many times before this, she was always snappy and mean to me. Everytime I would ask her to do something, or even walk past her it was some comment. Well this night was the night for me to try and get her back a bit. Mostly because she “liked” my friend Mike the manager. She was always flirty with him and such. Anyhow, I decided it was time, and with mike in earshot I asked her a question. “There’s a breeze outside Kallie, aren’t you worried?” She then asked in her snerky voice as to why she should be worried about it. I replied with, “Because your vagina flaps in the wind.” Yes I may have pushed that one a bit much, but Mikes reaction is one I will never forget. Just the sheer volume of laughter from him didn’t even allow him to pull his head up and look at her. As she stormed off embarrassed and even more angry at me than normal, me and mike continued our laughing. Pretty sure she tried to hit me with a broom or something. Anyhow, any opportunity we had, we would continue to ask her if she felt the breeze coming, or things of that nature just to push her buttons. Anyhow, long story short in the end. They dated for years, and I’m still her favorite redhead as of when I saw her this summer.
-What other hobbies do you have?
Eh, I generally just wrench on cars, fish, and if drinking beer is a hobby? This year for the first time in like five years I will be back out in a deer stand and I’m pretty excited about it.
-How did you first hear about Eurowerks?
Well, that would have to be from Kyle and Tim talking about it back when we all lived in Savage.
-If you could make a change to Eurowerks, what would it be and why?
Well if I could press a no drama button that worked, I think that would be a good option.
