    Default old gas

So last winter my caddy sat in my back yard all winter. had about a 1/4 tank of gas in it. went out and started it this spring and moved it to my driveway. since then, it's been moved in the driveway once. I just went out and started it again.

So what does it take to make an 8v with CIS not run? super shitty old gas doesn't bother it.

Anyone else have a euro vehicle that just runs?

In 6 years, I've done nothing but change the oil, and put a starter in it. It's a hunk of junk, but I love it. Hopefully i can start dailying it (again) in the spring. The only reason I don't now is because ive got 2 fist sized rust holes on each strut tower in the front.

Its to my understanding that gas will last longer untreated now-a-days than it did years ago.

Not a euro vehicle, but I've got a 1976 Johnson 40 hp outboard and about a half dozen ancient metal gas tanks. She often runs on gas that's a few years old without trouble, although I do use STA-BIL when I remember.

My 86 Audi Coupe (2.2L I-5 CIS) sat for 7-8 months and all I did to store it was disconnect the battery. Hooked it back up and after a few tries cranking she fired and ran rough for a few minutes before smoothing out. If it wasnt for the wasp nest in the rear vent id be driving her now. lol

Old cars seem to run on just about anything...
I fill my car (88 e30) with waste fuel. Its the stuff we pull out of diesels at my work that people put gas in. So its a mystery mix of diesel, gas, e85, what ever else gets sucked in.

I filled one of my tanks up with 7 gallons diesel, 8 gallons gas. It didnt like it, but it ran it just fine.

    4 of them, mostly broken.

CIS/K-jet cars pretty much run as long as there is some type of flammable liquid in the gas tank. They don't always run well, but they do almost always run. In my experience at least.

    Still got my cats

Works just fine in my e30. The higher the diesel % the worse cold starts are. but usually I will just 3-6 gallons of it in my tank at a time. After running a high level of diesel for a few tanks you can see the big soot marks from the exhaust.

The only thing thats not normal on my e30 is a dinan chip, and I have the timing off a few teeth.

I just find it hilarious that many people complain about CIS... but this thing seriously just runs. always. cold weather, hot weather, wet, snowy what ever. even when the starter was out... It just got pushed, and I drove it home. It's never left me stranded.

The only complaints I hear are when it breaks

It left me stranded, wouldnt start hot, wouldnt start cold, and was a royal pita to keep running.

that was with good gas, and all the systems checked out OK.

CIS on an audi 5 cylinder turbo is the devil.

sounds like it. Caddy started hard, but started nonetheless. I love my POS... I need to make it not so POS like.

Volvo 850#2 had ~10 gallons of 2 year old fuel. Added a bottle of heet and 5 gallons of fresh 91 octane. Started first try (after priming of course) and seems to run perfectly.
