chuck sounds like he knows what hes doing.. If anyone isn't up for the drive there is an exhaust shop located in shakopee. Everything is mandrel bent and i am pretty sure tig welded. Did my brother's ABA exhaust for 130. He just needed to buy the muffler. Did great work too.

There is no one in the state of MN that does car exhausts that has a mandrel bender and tig welds everything.

well maybe it wasn't tig welding. but i can go look outside on my brothers car to confirm if it was mandrel or not. I remember the guy telling my brother it was. -

Edit: well, i take that back. It looks like they are all smooth bends no real kinks or anything, but it does look like there was a little compression(flattening) of the piping. I'm not really sure if it is mandrel anymore.

Right now the cheapest mandrel bender is about $50k.

AFAIK there are 4 or 5 true mandrel benders in the state of mn.I know of one that will bend stuff for cars in town for very high$$ and one out of town that does specifically exhaust. The rest are industrial only.

Most true mandrel benders are WAAAAAAYY!!!! overbuilt for doing auto exhausts. They are all designed to also bend SCH80 pipe(1/4" wall thickness?).That is the reason why they cost so damm much.

Right now I am working on designing my own unit that will only do up to 14ga.These things are not super complicated machines so its not that big of a deal.

well, good luck! sounds like you will have quite the exhaust building set-up(so-to-speak,) when you are finished.
