a few weeks ago i went to my buddy kevins and bought one of his barn treasures. its a 1982 jetta coupe 1.6L diesel. i plan on going for an oem+ look. i have a set of coils lined up. im also working on something for wheels. i have a lot of cleaning to do and a fair amount of engine work. it should be fun learning about these rod knocking beasts!!

interior...
went up to kevins and dug into the diesel! started on the brakes. the fronts are totally done. the rears were a little more difficult... the passenger side broke free after a nice bath in pb blaster but the drivers side is still resisting. ill prob be making a new one since it will most likely break. i attempted to hand crank the motor to see if it would even turn over and had no luck. robert and i removed the intake and discovered that the intake valves are rusted in place. its currently soaking in seafoam. hopefully that will break it loose. if not i will be removing the head and going through it. iv decided to remove the ac(something i wasnt originally going to do) it will just be better for everything... plus the alternator situation will be handled much easier. well thats all for now. i did snap a few pics...
hover car...
the underbody, its pretty clean all around.
most recent...
driving over an hr every time i wanted to work on my car wasnt working out for me so i decided to drag it home to my garage.
new home...
after digging into the engine more i realized that the reason that it wouldnt budge it because cylinder 1 was totally rusted in place. so i contacted the guy i purchased it from and he hooked me up w/a un-seized 1.6. i still need to get all the gaskets and belts to put the setup together. i should have everything back up and running hopefully in 2-3 weeks. i need to start working on getting the bonded title process rolling. when i went to pick it up there was like 6" of water on the floor. the small flap window apparently doesnt seal all the way, but ill be fixing that soon.
anyhow on to the pics...
