Took a long break, went back out and finished up the fronts. Drove it on the freeway without crap-my-pants grade worry that something's going to let loose for the first time. Worth all the bs earlier. Also, accelerates hella faster now that it's not dragging 2 toasted front bearings.

So did you do all the bushings as well? I'm wondering if that's a pita.

What bushings are you wondering about?

Any suspension bushings are pretty damned easy to change on a mk1. Beam bushings are kinda tough to find in non-poly, though.

I put the poly ones on the control arms in the cabby. It was a cake walk. I did have to go up the road and use a dudes press, but seeing as you have on it should take all of 30 minutes to do them.

It would have been a breeze but either due to a bad design or incorrect bolts used, I'm going to have to cut off the bolts to the sway bar mounts to get the control arms off the car (not enough clearance to get even a thin wall socket on the bolts, top or bottom). I'm not going to deal with that right now.

Huge improvement, my knee is no longer mashed into the door panel thanks to the smaller steering wheel. Don't mind the temporary cell phone holder over the EQ, that's moving directly to the right of the instrument cluster (and getting built out of more permanent material) now that I can see it, thanks to the smaller wheel.

I put a smaller wheel in the Cabby. People have made fun of me, but these cars were most definitely not designed for people over 6'. They smaller wheel really helps...plus I really like the look of that one.

It's a start. Next step, decide on speaker location, finish the speaker pods I started, and upholster.

Yep. Will be adding a plastic backer to the finished product to keep out the elements so it really doesn't matter what you use as long as it holds up the uphosltry in a durable lasting manner.

The good side. I trimmed the fender flare to fit, doesn't look as bad as I thought it might. Looking for a set of proper GTI flares eventually, so it's just temporary.

The bad side. It somewhat hides the derp damage that I still have to fix, so at least that's a bonus.

Yeah, comin' along. The valence looks great without bumpers. Maybe I missed it, but what's up with the turn signals?
