Ooh, excited. Although, sorry it looks like I'm just going to paint up my turtlebacks for the summer.

Price is right. $75 obo. Just want them out of my garage for enough to buy some ball joints and tie rod ends.

Put some ideas on paper about this (making my own grille out of plexiglass if it wasn't super obvious already).

#1 is my favorite thus far. It has beveled edges around the grille area itself, with a floating center section housing a set of turn signals. This would be by far the hardest of the 4 to make, so it's probably instantly disqualified.

#2 is my next favorite, similar to #1 but all in one flat plane (and out of one piece of plexiglass).

#3 is the same as #2, except the center bar goes all the way to the edge instead of floating.

#4 is a super basic setup, just 3 squares with a mesh backing, turn signals hidden behind the mesh and a vw emblem in the center panel.

    Opinions?

Found enough clear plexy in the garage to make properly shaped/curved sidemarker pieces too. Now I'm just deciding if I want to weld in filler plates or do the plexy sidemarkers.

Broke a pry bar trying to loosen the upper strut nut. Slotted instead of allen. What a crock of shit, hello grinder. All this to get the spacer out of the stock piece.

Take out the upper strut mount with the two bolts, and spend the cash on new ones.

Have you considered vacuum forming parts of the grille? Could make it a lot easier to get cooler shapes, though you might have to mold it in several pieces due to excessive draw.

Got it about as low as I could get it and still clear my driveway without building a ramp.

Mike: I had a basically new set given to me. They did not have the spacer with them so I had to reuse the stock spacer. I'm not about to look a gift horse in the mouth and/or shell out a bunch of cash because I need the spacer. Thankfully the drivers side came out without incident.

Sven: I have the materials and tools laying around the garage. Going to use what I have at hand.

I agree with Kris. Looks good man.

Also, I remembered I have the stock fronts, and should have all the accesories for it. So if you need some random parts for them, let me know. In any case, I like the look!
