I go back and forth on getting rid of this car, but three cars is just too many. I don't have the time, patience or space for this car. It was a good learning experience about buying cars but now it's time to move on. If you want to come check this beast out, I promise you that I will meet you in daylight hours and be 100% honest about how shitty this car is. I would even let you take it on a test drive further than a block but it's broken.
Here's the scoop:
-It's got the 8v. It is not currently running because the fuel line from the pump to the engine bay is busted. I am picking up the part today but I don't have the space or tools to fix it.
-This car has been a victim of neglect and hackjob repairs.
*The alternator setup was interesting and ate several lawnmower belts in the short time I've owned it, so BimmerTim put in a different one. It's still not 100% straight but it gets the job done. As a bonus, the new alternator belt is one sold for automotive use.
*The timing belt was rubbing on one of the fuel lines and it caused a leak. That line has been replaced, but the line that connects to it leading from the pump to the engine bay was also fucked because someone drove the barb straight through the hose. I have a timing belt cover so that should take care of the rubbing issues.
*The valve cover gasket is leaking.
*It's got an idle issue. It's an 8v, what did you expect? I have a new coolant temperature sensor, but have not installed it. I will include it with the car.
*It may have other undiagnosed vacuum leaks. There were quite a few lines to various things that were unhooked and that I reconnected the last time I looked under the hood, so it may run better now.
*It burns a lot of oil. The pope is catholic and bears shit in the woods.
*It's probably got some other issues that I've forgotten. I will add them as I remember them.
On the bright side, it's an 8v so you can just swap in a new one when it breaks because someone on eurowerks is bound to have a spare 8v or two taking up space in their garage.
-It's got a five speed manual transmission. It's a little bit loose but I've never had any problems with it otherwise. It always goes into gear and never pops out. It feels sloppy to me, but my main machine is a Miata. Every other car feels crappy once you've driven the Miata for a few months.
-The car has 187k miles. I bought it with 181k miles. The person who sold it to me claimed to have replaced all of the important shit like the radiator and water pump, but he took the ad down right after I bought the car so now I don't know what has been replaced.
-The body is ridiculously clean for a midwest car. I've looked for rust but can't find any. It's Atlas Grey and has the sexy big bumpers and other Wolfsburg trim bits. It's got some door dings and scrapes but no major body damage. One of the taillights has a bubble in it but I've got an undamaged one that I will include with the car. It's been the victim of a shitty respray and could use some wetsanding, but this car is in outstanding condition for a Mk2. You won't find a nicer body outside of the desert states. I'd give it a 9 out of 10.
-The interior is in okay shape. It's missing the headliner but everything else is still there and looks pretty good for its age. I started detailing the interior but got distracted by all of the stuff I found under the seats. I will include the Rush CD I found. I'd give the interior an 8 out of 10.
-It comes with some (mad tight/hella tacky - choose one depending on your tastes) polished Castlette wheels. With wheels this shiny, you will never lose your car in a crowded parking lot. In a pinch, they will do nicely for blinding your enemies but be careful because they have also been known to blind pilots and even astronauts!
-The stereo is okay. It's got an aftermarket headunit that's alright, but I'm pretty sure some of the speakers in back are house speakers. They like to come loose and rattle around. I think the car is wired for a sub but I don't know for certain because I don't really care about having a ballin' stereo system because I am a fast and furious racer, dawg.
Here is a picture to get you started. I will provide specific pictures if you really want them.
I'm looking $1125, but I'm open to offers. I will also take trades or partial trades for fish tanks and aquarium supplies. If you offer what I deem a satisfactory price, I will have it towed to your place.
You can PM me, call me, or shoot me a text at nine five two - three eight eight - four six nine six. The car is located in Maple Grove if you want to take a look at it. I'm free most mornings and all day Thursday and Friday.
