Traing is going well. The Lamborghini and SLS riding my ass was a bit intimidating tho.

we were running between 2:00 and 2:10 lap times. We were not driving it really hard, we want to save it for the races. I was Sunday driving just working on my lines. If we stay within that range i think we should be in good shape for the race! We just need to fix the gas tank as ours developed a huge leak!

2:00 to 2:10 might be a little bit of an exaggeration...
More like 2:03-2:32 on this training day, but we were there to practice and we did. Tires are so damn expensive that we didnt want to shred them too bad. In the last race I managed to put down a 1:58.39 which is my fastest lap ever on that track. But in the actual race last year as a team we averaged around a 2:05-2:06. The part that gets tricky is balancing speed, risk of breaking something, and efficiency. The team that puts down 1:58 lap times all day but then breaks something and is out of the race for an hour will fall behind the guy who turned consistent 2:06 times all day long. We think we are going to put our fastest guys out first and last, consistent guys in the middle. If you look at the past races the guys who get out front early seem to stay there. Of course the guys with the E36 chumpcar (Tubby Butterman Racing) always seem to win any race we have been to. The car does seem a little out of place in chumpcar, but they did everything they needed to do to play by the rules i guess. They are nice guys and amazing drivers to boot, and seems like they should be teaching a class in pit stops.

We are really hoping for a top 5 finish but sounds like the competition is going to be steep this race.

The problem is to win you have to be turning your fastest laps and just hope nothing breaks. That's what everyone else is doing. Of note, you probably aren't any more likely to break something doing a 1:58 than you are doing a 2:02. Most of that speed is attained through your corners, so you are just going to be using a bit more tires is all.

Butterman can be beat - we did it, in a 24 hour race to boot!

Anyone have a sparco hub that fits an e30? Or know anywhere in town that might have one? We need one asap!

Oh joy, E30 gas tanks. Let me guess, the leak is at the filler neck, right?

We had the same issue with the E30 I am building. Try Gas Tank Renu in Shakopee. They do good work and it's cheaper than trying to find a good used tank. There are very few good used tanks left

So the new tank is in and the car is back up and running. I recieved only half of our brake pads yesterday, so I am really hoping the rears show up on monday... Our new Hub should arrive on tuesday so the new steering wheel can be mounted.

had to put fuel pump from our old tank as we did not know the other owner took it out and used an inline

here is where most of the damage was on our old tank, but the bummer is the new one is 2 gallons smaller.

New tank doesnt leak but we had to rig the return line since we have to use the old pump, kind of lame. Hope we wont prematurely run out of gas with the new smaller tank. Almost time to race and still a lot to do, we are getting very excited...

Hey, I'm looking for someone to pick up a set of tires for me in Elk River, just off hwy 10. I figured it's on the way to BIR so I would see if you, or someone you know, could bring them back for me.

I'd be willing to throw in some beer money to anyone who can grab them and get them closer to me (Shakopee)
