    Default E30 Chump Car!

Over the last few months there has been a group of us talking about getting into chump car. Last friday it became official and the team purchased our car. We got a 90 BMW 325i.
We just started stripping the car down this weekend so we could get the shell ready for the roll cage and pulled to motor and tranny so we could freshen it up.

We will be using this thread to document the build progress and race results when we finally enter races.

pulling all the crap out of the car.

    this looks about right

    engine and tranny out

So far we have only really worked on the car for a few hours. This was the easy part. Now its time for the fun stuff.
Im sure I'm forgetting stuff so I'm sure guys on the team will chime in.

Shouldn't be too bad, I'll assume you guys have another head for it? Did it bugger up the piston?

tbelt broke on the PO, bent 6 exhaust valves and snapped a rocker.. the rest was in pretty good shape.

little bit of scaring, but nothing I'd worry about at all. Dan is going to sand the pistons.

we're getting the head rebuilt (I do have one on the shelves too though, lol)

You don't want to make it look too nice...they'll just assume you have something special going on in there and start you with some negative laps.

in the rules it says "we hate grime as much as you do, we wont dock you laps for having a clean engine!"

we made sure to check before that, lol.

carefull......the cost of the car (rebuild of the engine included) can't exceed more than $500. I thought about a very similar car on C.L. that w/ a busted T.B. for $700, i didn't think there would be enough stuff to sell off of it to pay for the repairs
