Damn fine automobile. I've always had a nasty soft spot for TDI's.

You can buy the euro strip and and paint it any color you like. I am fairly certain that the euro rub strip will only fit on a euro front end. Its not as deep as the North American. So I think there would need to be a full front end conversion.
Waaay too much work for the result.

It's her car, so she is definitely helping. It took forever to figure out what kind of wheels she likes. There's also some things that I consider "must haves".

I'll try this on the amber ones, but I think it'll probably look pretty ghetto

New = 7 years old. I'm sure there's a lot less that I can fix by myself on this car, but a smooth reliable technology car is good to have around.

You would be surprised. My car has been in the shop once in the 9 years I have had it.

chip it. It improves everything about the car. better power, and economy. A long 5th gear would also be useful on long trips. Trust me, just the noise reduction in the cabin is nice.

Chip is next item. I mentioned that long ago, but thanks for telling me again to do it. I can't imagine why I would want any lower of a gear ratio...? It's a diesel already and has a tall 5th gear. And just stock exhaust so there is zero cabin noise. Wacky, sir.

A longer 5th gear will yield more MPG's on long freeway runs and at 70 (cruising) even with stock exhaust it will be quieter. the noise it cuts down on is the pump which you cna hear more with stock everything. If you want I have a 2+ ECU that's bumming around I won't ever need there are no local TDI tuners it's a Unitronic tune worked great for me until my turbo died (not the tunes fault, combo of issues).

Let me know it'd be easy swap for you and makes a ton of difference.

If they do no one I've seen or heard of has used it. They don't list anything on the web about it.

This morning I challenged the foggy/nasty/frosted headlights that needed restoration. I bought the $8 Turtle Wax headlight lens restore kit from OReilly auto parts. Rubbing compound and 4 different levels of sanding sponges. PLUS some sort os a sealing agent, which was advised to wear gloves while applying. It took about an hour to do both left and right headlights. I'm super super happy with the results!

    BEFORE

    AFTER

Found those Aristos I was looking for! $450 for the set!!!
Will be mounted after the weekend.

Also, I have decided on the FIRST performance upgrade. Before adding a Chip / ECU Upgrade, I will start with the mechanical end and install larger, better flowing, better spray pattern INJECTOR NOZZLES. The contenders were...

    Bosio Fratelli Sprint 520 = +20hp +20tq
    Bosio Fratelli Power Plus 520 = +20hp +40tq
    Bosch .216 (OEM from the T4 Transporter) = +25hp +45tq

I went with the Bosch because the power results were SO similar to the PP520, but the smoke levels are supposed be lower. Cost $290 with free shipping and another $100 for the calibrated installation. Hoping to install them next week!

For the "coming later" ECU Upgrade, I'm leaning towards Malone Tuning (vs. RocketChip). I'll start with the Stage 1.5 tune and ride out the current clutch as long as I can. Once that wears out, I'll go for Stage 2 or more with a 400ft-lb clutch (http://shopping.boraparts.com/produc...roducts_id=222)
