Default 2010 Auto-X Season Planning and Trash Talk

I'll add an events list and links to registration at a later date. Have at it.

I plan on attending both DCTC events. I'm thinking I'm also going to try and get a spot for MOWOG 1 or 2.

EDIT: I noticed that Aaron posted a schedule thread already. I guess this can be primarily for planning, questions and trash talk.

I'll be at M1, but with the mother on M2 (priorities, family>cars).

Trash talk eh, Well I doubt anyone here will be in STX, but if you are...uh...you suck? idk.

But seriously, dont go into Novice class. If you've ever done AutoX or a drivers school (novice school counts) get into your own class. I made the mistake of staying in SI for too long and realized I am missing out on a ton of stuff to be gained being in my designated class. Plus, who wants to be called "novice"?

Actually, TickTack you might be in STX if you've got anything to put you out of stock class. That would be fun/

I know I'm gonna get smushed in my proper class. I've got exhaust and higher boost levels but am currently on some pretty awful tires. I think that puts me in BSP?

I don't really care, to be honest. I'll be participating for the fun of it and to compete against myself.

I feel like I should do novice at least once, since I've never done any sort of autocross aside from the school. Any thoughts?

Like I said, I'm in it for maximum funage.

(Obviously, I could create a tune for stock boost and re-flash before events, but that's too much hassle. I'm 'building' my car for maximum enjoyment and most of the time I'm in the car, I'm on the street.)

    haha, sorry Andy.

TickTack, sure try Novice once. You're gonna learn either way, but the competition and support of your class will point you in the right direction for learning things specific to your class (turn in points/braking/etc are different for each car type. you can share this knowledge with your class as long as they're not super worried about telling you). And you'll have fun no matter where you run. Just run!

I have a classing question. If I have a car that falls into the BSP class, would I run with BSP or in the street tire index? I guess I don't understand the benefits of either.

I'm hoping to make it out to Mowog 3 if I can pull out some sort of miracle. I really can't wait, as I had to live vicariously through a buddy last year.

I'll be in vintage class if there are enough people, or SSM or XP if not...or as Topher put it, "the full on F me in the parking lot class."

The SCCA regulations really make it tough on anyone restoring a car. Rebuilding my engine to a "stock" level would have been more difficult as parts would have been harder to find, more expensive, and would have left my engine less reliable. So hopefully we'll get enough people in vintage class, where most anything is allowed.

All that aside, I'm just really looking forward to getting out and driving fast around some cones. I'm also hoping to get my 59 year old dad out there as well. He seems interested every time I bring it up.

My friend, "barrowcadbury" on MAC website, has a NB Miata and will be running in STR.

I'm planning on m3 through the rest, hopefully, in my '82 diesel rabbit.

Ha, I chuckled. I figure that's about where I'll find myself when I'm running my correct class.

Yeah, it cracked me up when I read Topher's post.

I just think its funny that my little car with its meager 100hp will be up there running with the big boys. Not that I really care, it just cracks me up.

At least with his 15% S/C pulley on the Mini, he may be in a similar situation. Except that he's setting up the rest of the car pretty well, too.
