They take an early 911, srtip the chassis down to just the frame, re-inforce it and build a brand new car on top of it. It pretty much has an air cooled 996 GT3 motor in it.
The go for $150k plus and are special order only trough Singer. There are 2 in the states as far as I'm concerned.

    PDF describing what they do:
    http://www.singervehicledesign.com/c...specs_2011.pdf

Wow, basicially, this is the way the 911 SHOULD be built today. It's perfect...

    - begin with pre-1994 911
    - stripped and the monocoque (unibody) is cleaned and media blasted to bare metal
    - standard suspension features uprated Bilstein adjustable dampers and coil over springs
    - windscreen wipers are relocated to the central position found in the later 993
    - carbon fiber bodywork except doors for crash protection
    - rear spoiler is an active, speed sensitive unit that rises into position at 60 mph and recalls the classic ‘ducktail’ from the 1973 Carrera RS
    - 3.6L air cooled units fitted to the 911 from 1990, stripped and then meticulously blue printed, balanced and hand built using new or state of the art componentry
    - most advanced, powerful, efficient and reliable air‐cooled engines that are currently possible to build
    - 5 speed Getrag G50 transmission from the 964
    - complete braking system from the 993
    - newly developed 17’’ forged aluminum three‐piece wheels in the style of the iconic Fuchs wheels designed in the 1960’s
    - 9”x17’’ front and 11”x17’’ rear
    - classic Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio from the early 1970’s is standard equipment
    - interior that recalls the 1960’s and ‘70’s, the golden age of 911 décor
    - early 911 gauges
    - 1973 Carrera RS steering wheel

That really is the perfect Porsche. If I ever was shopping for a car in the $150k price range that is definitely what I would buy.

They are neat, but are nothing new. Just the very easy way buy a 911 RS/RSR/ST/934 meshed replica, mundane and production motor with throttle bodies, combined with "fuchs" 17" cartoon wheels, some shiny paint, and handily placed "vintage" guages, door panels, and seats, along with some boxster cues, and the best part is you dont need any prior porsche experience to know what you want. Just buy, and drive to cars and coffee and r gruppe meetings, and pretend to know what you are talking about. Hence the 150k price tag. You pay for the convenience and lack of knowledge. Which is fine. And dont give me "the parts are expensive" bs line, they are all replica parts. But there is obviously a market for them, so good deal. They are what they are, a glorified replica.

I know what I'm talking about as well and the Singer Porsche, while a bit over priced IMO, is a fantastic car and not some amateur project.
It's done porperly and will sell some to a small target audience but just because those folks overpay for them, does not mean they are not
"real" Porsche guys. For the right price I would love to own one. Look at the amount of $ a properly done RS replica (that doesn't even have
the proper RS 2.7 in it) goes for.

Yeah, I don't know what happened. I always hated them, but something snapped and now they look really good. I'd definitely get a 951 if I was ever in the market.

I've always had a soft spot for 944's... It's just not practical for me to own one right now, but you made me look again! Damnit! haha
