    Default Detailing Supply question...PorterCable deals?

Has anyone on here bought one of those kits on auto geek?

I want to get the PorterCable random orbit buffer, and some pads as cheaply as possible.

Something like this seem ok, or am I better off buying stuff separate?

I read a great review of this in MC2 mag, they were quoting $90 range for the thing, I'm thinking on it... but the MINI is tiny, easy to do by hand...

It's too bad that there isn't some $130 machine that can bring old shit paint full of rock chips and breaking up clearcoat back to its former glory.

The MC2 write up had that "old shit paint full of rock chips and breaking up clearcoat back to its former glory" machine quoted at $90 sumpin... a few month back...

seeing as how the pad is only about 5" its gunna be tough to use, being that you greatly reduce the risk of burning your paint since you more focused on just a small spot since the pads so small... id recomend picking up a makita buffer and a wool pad and polishing pad with cutting and polishing 3m ive used it for years comes out great

i agree on the majority of that....only thing that i would keep people, learning how to buff, away from is the wool pads. Chance of burning the paint with a wool pad is greater then a white foam pad from 3M..not to mention how much easier it is to put in swirl marks...just my 2cents though

I'm not a fan of random buffers either. I've got a Milwaukee polisher, and it works great. But I wouldn't give it to a beginner to go buff that Ferrari 250 GTO they've got hiding in the barn...

I learned how to buff on an orbital buffer, and to be honest, they're not all that hard to learn.

if its something you just wanna do once a year or something, you could always have someone do it for you, then you wont have to worry about you burning the paint or making a lot of swirl marks. I know there are a few other detailers on here that would be able to do it for you for a good price. (im planning on getting out of the side business of it)

I like doing it, but the crappy 40 dollar craftsman polisher is not cutting it anymore, ya know?

I got some OK results with it, but I would like to move into the foam pads, and whatnot.

The motivation for this is my wifes dark blue metallic car. It's a tiny bit rough, and it's driving me nuts.
