    Default Brake pressure

I upgraded my rear calipers this weekend and now I have little to no brake pedal pressure. I can stop but I have to push harder and further down. We used a pressure bleeder to bleed them and the fluid at the correct level. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

Are they new calipers? How does the e-brake feel?

If the e-brake handle pulls all the way up and the pedal is spongy then it is likely you have one or more bad calipers. This is fairly common as the calipers are self adjusting and they can brake themselves.

if its an 8v, it had drums, now you have taken rear discs from a 16v or mk3, right? did you upgrade the master cylinder from a 20mm to a 22mm? proportioning valves too? more info please.

The e-brake is great. That's the reason I switched from mkIII or mkIV calipers.

The story. Both my original rear calipers were bad, when I pulled my e-brake it would hold but not release. I ordered mkIV rear calipers from Black Mountain. I installed the new ones on Saturday morning. The only problem I had was that I couldn't tighten the upper caliper bolt when the brake line is already attached. I had to unto the brake like, tighten the upper bolt and re-tighten the brake line. We bled them after that and now I have the poor pressure.

I'll re-bleed them tonight and see what happens.

    hmmmmmmmm.

I installed all new calipers on my mkii not too long ago. I had to bleed and bleed and bleed and bleed before I got some good pressure. There was a lot of air in the line.

Doesn't sound like you did anything to damage the calipers or the master clylinder.

I've never had to re-bleed my lines before, the first one always took. I'll try tonight. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.

If you have more that about 2 inches of travel of your brake petal it could just be a brake bleeding fix
