it wont affect you if you arent at fault. only if you are considered partial at fault. then it could affect you if its over 750. hence why the police report is gold

Talked to the agent, the other guy called and filed a claim. He admitted to the fault, they are sending the adjuster out tomorrow.

I got lucky with an honest person this time.

Again, thanks for the advice about calling the police and getting a report at the scene. Hopefully I wont ever need to use it.

Adjuster quoted body labor at $50/hr and paint at $50/hr.

That seems low to me, anyone have experience with this?

Most insurance companys are paying $52/hr now, but SF is still at $50, and so is Allstate I believe. That's not lowballed

Also, in MN, you have the right to refuse aftermarket parts. If they find used parts though, there is no law saying you can refuse them.

They deemed the car a TL. The settlement is on the low side, they used non turbo Volvo's as comparisons in the report. My car is not roached out or beat to piss, it just has higher miles.

Whats the best way to contest this?

Tell them to comparison shop your exact model and options. Maybe even find some for them? That's what State Farm did for me. They also gave me additional funds to cover tax and title costs on the replacement.

Insurance Companys don't care what they pay, they just need to justify why they are paying it. Comparable vehicles in the local market are the best way to raise up the settlement. With a car of that age, its harder to find "exact matches" so similar vehicles are used.

How much more are you looking for?

I made a counter offer and listed the above reasons. They accepted, the check is on the way.
Just glad this worked out as well as it did.

Good to hear. Even with hearing stories of people being "screwed" on their insurance settlements, I've always found them to be pretty fair and easy to work with.

I vote quote on the site, know what your car is worth and what it will take to fix, then we drive to gas station, I pay you or you pay me. I have insurance but I don't plan to use it.
Why is it that when your car rusts it's "patina" but when mine rusts I get dirty looks...?
