Do not disconnect it and leave it in. I cut out my sway in my gti, and if I were to do it all again, I would do it right and replace it with an under axle design.

The purpose of leaving it tied up is to see if he likes it. Cut it out after.

I have installed a front sway bar in a MK4 before- dropping the sub-frame is no big deal. I've never driven a MK4 without the sway bar, so I will disconnect and tie up to try it out, out of curiosity more than anything. If I decide I like it, I will remove the sway bar the correct way, mostly because I don't want to destroy it. I appreciate the comments and suggestions from everyone, but I'm guessing that I would like to have an under axle sway bar.
