Thats alright, trails are where its at though!

Pics of the cage in process and done. I also sold the f head that is in the postal this morning. So this afternoon I went and picked up a semi crappy 93 Blazer to steal the motor out of. I'll be scrapping the rest, minus selling the trans and tcase. Thursday I hope to go get the t18/d20 setup to put behind it. Should be a fun setup. I think my stock axles will blow up very quickly though, so unless I get axles under it I may not get to wheel it again this year

not sure how I really feel about the paint lol

just chopped the core support away to get the driveline out in one pull.

Motor swapped, runs, suspension changed, gears changed, lots of little stuff to do though. Oh yeah, moved to bigger boy tires last night.

yeah most people are like JK LOL? thats stupid, and I'm like yeah JK's are stupid. And then I continue on, allowing ignorance to make fun of me.

Tires are 38.5x14.5. I got 5 of them though! All in really decent shape, and for a pretty decent price. They are however a size or two bigger than I wanted. I wanted to keep 12.5 wide but get 35-37" height. The deal was nearly too good to pass up, since they are on wheels I can use already. Now I'll be putting my 33" duratracs on my black cj5 so that can be driven safely.

    Where are you wheeling?

Also, what's the story on the rolled TJ?

Wheeling up in Gilbert/Eveleth. The OHV and there also has been a new "trail" that opened called the MMT, which is where the TJ rolled. He tried to just pull a tree off the trail as he is a trail guide. Tree did not move, which is an understatement, it didn't even flinch. It was maybe a 4" pine tree. He gave it a little bump with the strap and had the same thing, no movement of the tree but the jeep went sideways and off the higher ground he went. Almost a full roll over. No seatbelt on, because really who's going to roll pulling a tree? It was a little scary.

It's amazing how much abuse these can take. Good to hear he wasn't hurt.

I've been meaning to hit Gilbert, but I like my shiny truck for now.

Absolutely. I've got a couple friends up here that are just amazed at what a stockish xj will do. I'm hoping to wheel the first Sunday in October. Maybe one snow wheeling trip if it's nice and warm, no doors/heat will do that lol. Otherwise next year you'll have to come up! In no way do 98% of the guys in my club like to get body damage, so you're safe there. I think the 3rd weekend in May is the Gilbert open house. Wheeling is free that Saturday for anyone. My club puts on an event day and does trail guiding and stuff. Maybe plan on coming? Lunch is served and stuff. This year we had probably 25 to 30 rigs, many new people. It's always a blast. Plus the MMT just opened up which is a very challenging trail, but tons of fun. And work is slowly being done on the Virginia expansion. It like twice the physical size of Gilbert, but not many trails cut yet and not open to the public as far as I know.

screwed around all day with this again. Moved it out of the garage, trans left a trail of oil. It's coming out at a good pace, enough for many drips to come out. I'm sure its coming right out the input shaft and then down the front of the trans and dripping off the bottom. That's going to be a seal issue, and Novak supplied that. I'll look at that a little more tomorrow, maybe it's coming through the cover, which would be amazing. Power steering pump leaks pretty good too. Need to replace all the orings in it it looks like. I'd swap it for one of my other ones, but it's in such a terrible spot I need to remove the radiator to do the job.

I'm not so sure I can have full droop with my rear axle and have the ujoint not bind up. I also need to get a new diff yoke for the rear so I can use the seemingly more standard ujoints, otherwise this yoke wants me to use the wider joint. I found someone say something about a ujoint that had the wider and narrower parts, 1310 to 1330 size, but I couldn't find them or a part number yet.

It's working like dog poo, but at least it looks cool.

A wacky stencil on the white part of the hood would make that paint job. Something like "MOAB POST OFFICE". As if you're delivering mail to the mountain people.

Mopar performance sells a u joint which adapts the small mopar joint to large. May be what you are looking for.

I ended up getting a new flange from the local drivetrain shop.

Then today I chopped fenders, replaced oil sensor, and checked for fender clearance in yard. I still have an issue with the idle. It'll idle just fine, then it seems like the idle controller closes and it kills the motor or barely stays running and then jumps the idle way up. Ideas?
