I can't get the crank hub off and it seems too close to the timing cover for a typical puller. A co-worker said a steering wheel puller might be the way to go. Anyone have any suggestions?

Progress has halted as we are moving Sunday and we have been packing and dropping things off for donation etc. I found a little 2-arm puller with thin enough arms to fit behind the hub I think, haven't had a chance to try it yet. Also my oil pump nut showed up.

Since moving the car and all of my tools to a garage in Brooklyn Park I haven't made any progress. Squirrels have gotten into the garage after 3 unsuccessful attempts by the landlord to seal up any entrance points. They got into my car and chewed my seatbelts in half, chewed up the carpeting, shift boot, wiring for the reverse switch, window buttons, various interior pieces and the ash tray light. They also filled the interior with walnuts, some with the skin still on and moldy. They also filled my donated radiator, countless boxes and my OBD1 intake manifold with walnut garbage. I'm frustrated and am moving the car and tools somewhere else. It likely won't be a place where I am allowed to work on it or have electricity so this car won't be getting any attention for a long time. That's life I guess. I'll pick this up again when we buy another house in a couple years and I can set up shop again and my kids are a little older.
Thanks for the fish.
That is horrible news
If you want to bring it out to my shop you can keep it there and work on it til you get it sorted out.
Really sorry to hear about this.
Time to start squirrel genocide.
Bummer about the bimmer

Damn.
I had the same problem with mice in my allroad when it was under the knife. They filled my downpipes with peanuts, and somehow got into the car, chewing up the insulation under the pedal area. The only area left accessible from the outside was the console where the shifter was gone, and I don't know HOW they got up into that hole. Thank god all they did was take insulation, and didn't chew any wiring.
Thanks guys. It's a pain in the ass for sure. Brian I will let you know, thanks so much for the offer.
Ahh man, sorry to hear.Sounds like a pain in the ass. I'm now a little paranoid about my Volvo Amazon being away in storage for the winter.
Thats awful news, very sorry to hear that. It broke my heart reading that man.![]()
