I finally titled my Caddy. Now to work more on getting it to run right again.
Drove it again for the first time in almost a month.
Rocking a rebuilt 2.0L shortblock, while also sporting a new/used big 16g turbo and catless up and downpipes. Currently doing the 500 mile engine break-in, and will be going back in for a e85 and 91 octane tune in a couple of weeks.
The car is pretty neutered at the moment, but should be fun once buttoned up.

Ok photos tomorrow. I spent the most of my free time troubleshooting my brake/parking light problem. The socket looks great and has no corrosion but when I have my lights on and hit the brakes, the entire light shuts off (aka they are both sharing the parking light filament for brake light and parking light duties) anyone run into this with a MK1 caddy before? Just time to replace the socket and be done with it?
Dropped off the Audi to have the new sachs clutch kit installed...$$$ But, I'm excited
to have it fixed and no more stuttering in reverse and first all the time or squeal of the throw bearing when accelerating. They gave me a 2003 Protege5 MT as a loaner car. Kinda a fun little car.
Also close to pulling the trigger on some new shocks and lowering springs for the westy... Lowest prices I can find are $165ttl for the KYB Shocks and $211 for the HR Springs. Gotta get this done b4 the snow flies for it to fit in the garage for storage.![]()
Pulled the motor in the truck to replace the head gaskets and pin the cylinder sleeves.
Then I did some preliminary cleaning of the motor before I start to take it apart. It was pretty caked with oil from some very weepy head gaskets.
Oil and coolant were leaking from the left head. Compression was fine all around, but I really don't know how they could fail that bad, leaking that much externally but still seal fine internally. Stumped.
Replaced the drivers window regulator in my passat. Now my dash lights do not turn on, while everything else still works.
Would it be related to something in the door now being plugged in right or a fuse or something completely unrelated?
Weird.
Any ideas?
completely washed/polished/waxed both my amazon and miata yesterday. turned out awesome, especially the miata. not even a trace of pinkish oxidation anymore, just a deep, glossy red.
came out this morning to find my miata covered in hard water spots. apparently my mom turned the sprinklers on overnight, and decided to water my car as well. just re-washed it, and many of the water spots didn't come out. I guess I'm going to have to re-polish and re-wax.![]()
I traded my FJ in on a Prius. My soul aches but my pocket book rejoices (My wife has been driving it between the cities and Mankato, $800 a month in gas for commuting is no way to live!)
